Golfers That Flinch: Hands Sting as Club Head Impacts Ball; Sting-Free High-Tech Grip Can Boost Performance

Press Release

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 2004--Fear of impact vibration has ruined many low-scoring rounds. When the club head meets the golf ball, the vibration can send a sting through the hands and body. Golfers have been known to be distracted and flinch in anticipation of the oncoming pain. The vibration travels from hands to arms to shoulders to body and can cause muscle and joint aches that can lead to tissue trauma and even back injuries.

A Sting-Free high-tech golf grip is available that can boost performance while absorbing most of the sting, vibration and pain. Formal testing by a PhD Vibratory Physics professor from Villanova University verified that the grips reduced as much as 80% of the harmful vibrations on impact.

Samples are available for the sports media, golf pros, club managers, and instructors to test and evaluate.

The Sting-Free grip combines Dupont engineering with GE technology. Developed by two Sports Medicine doctors, it provides greater damping of impact shock and has a distinct advantage over existing synthetic, tire rubber or foam padding which typically stops only 10% to 20% of the impact. The grip is comprised of three layers. The first is a space age GE elastomer especially calibrated to absorb the maximum amount of harmful impact shock. The second layer uses Dupont's stronger-than-steel Aramid fiber, the same fiber used in bulletproof vests. The third layer is a GE elastomer contoured for the ultimate comfort of the grip.
