Nike Golf Brings Golfers the Longest and Most Complete Golf Balls on Tour

Press Release

tephen Ames' win this past weekend at the Western Open was just the latest in a string of victories for Nike Golf's new Nike One Gold and Nike One Black golf balls. Stewart Cink captured the Heritage earlier in the year playing a prototype One Black, and Trevor Immelman followed that up by winning the Deutsch Bank, also playing One Black. Ames' captured his first PGA Tour win using the One Gold.

Now golfers everywhere can play the longest ball on Tour, the One Black, or the most complete ball on Tour, the One Gold. Both golf balls will be available at golf shops and golf specialty stores nationwide beginning July 15. They will each carry a Suggested Retail Price of $54 per dozen.

The Longest

Initial velocity, the speed of the ball coming off the clubface, is what separates a "long drive" from one that makes your heart jump and your buddies wonder if you've been working out again. In an independent test that varied different launch conditions (head speed, spin and launch angle), the initial velocity and distance of the One Black proved to be greater than all other Tour level balls tested. The core of the One Black, its engine, is the biggest that Nike Golf has ever created. The catalyzing of polybutadiene and Nd creates a tighter molecular structure within the core of the One Black in a more efficient transfer of energy at contact. In golfing terms, it is the longest ball on Tour. Period. The One Black will give golfers a new perspective on the game by taking them to places in the fairway they have only dreamed of reaching. The One Black is designed for maximum distance and reduced excess spin while the One Black player places a premium on low-spin and high launch conditions, and prefers a crisp feel with more penetrating trajectory.

The One Black is a three-piece/two-cover golf ball with an oversized Nd catalyzed polybutadiene core, a high repulsion dynaron ionomer inner cover and a high-velocity injected TPU outer cover. The penetrating mid-trajectory of the One Black comes from Nike's exclusive 408 Seamless dimple pattern.

Cink, Immelman, Rory Sabbatini, Carl Pettersson, and Bo Van Pelt are some of the players teeing up the One Black this season.

The Most Complete

Nike Golf actually introduced golfers to the most complete golf ball on Tour last year in the Nike One ball. Nike Golf's added a hotter core and a softer cover with a new highly-responsive top coating to the Nike One and is re-introducing it as the new Nike One Gold.

The Nike One Gold remains the only four-piece/three-cover golf ball on Tour. The One Gold player prefers to shape shots and optimizes control around the green; in short, this player seeks the ultimate in complete ball performance.

The three covers of the One Gold have been designed to respond to a golfer's every shot, providing distance off the tee and fairway, control on the approach and incredible touch around the green. The One Gold is comprised of a high-repulsion Nd catalyzed polybutadiene core, dynaron blend ionomer inner and middle covers, and an injection molded TPU outer cover with a high-coverage 432 dual seamless dimple pattern.

Ames has been playing the One Gold for most of the year. His nine Top 10 finishes including one win have him off to the best start of his career. He's credited a rededication to every aspect of his game including the equipment he chooses to play as the reason this 40-year old is enjoying the peak of his career. No other ball on Tour responds like the One Gold can tee to green. It is the mostcomplete ball on Tour.
