Popularity of Md Hybrid Helps Sonartec to Record Numbers on Tour

Press Release

For the second straight week, Sonartec had a record-setting 35 fairway woods in play in a single tournament on the PGA Tour. Thirty players put Sonartec clubs into play at the Cialis Western Open, including 11 players who replaced their long irons with the new Md Transition Hybrid.

The Md was put in play for the 200th time in 2004 at the Western Open, making it easily the # 2 most played hybrid on the PGA Tour. One of every four hybrids played on the PGA Tour this year has been a Sonartec Md, making it the fastest growing hybrid on the PGA Tour.

So far this year, over 115 players have used hybrids on the PGA Tour. Thirty-three of those players are swinging the Sonartec Md without being compensated to play the club. Hybrids represent 12 percent of all fairway woods played on the PGA Tour this year, while Sonartec's Md represents 33 percent of all Sonartec's played. This fact has Sonartec thinking they have found the optimal hybrid solution.

"The demand for our hybrid has grown exponentially," said Sonartec Vice President Jim Uno. "We didn't expect the Md to be our # 1 club on the Tour, but after we brought it to the market, we knew we had a winner. Now we think it could take over the hybrid category and be the # 1 hybrid on the Tour. That's how strong the player reaction has been to the performance of the Md."

Other Notes from Cialis Western Open

Seven players using Sonartec clubs finished in the Top 25 of the Cialis Western Open. Five of Sonartec's 7 current fairway models were represented in Top 25 of the tournament.

Sonartec now has 30 Top Ten finishes after 27 PGA Tour events.

About Sonartec

Sonartec is a four-year-old golf manufacturer specializing in fairway woods. Their fairway wood models have taken over as the # 3 most played fairway wood brand on the PGA Tour. The patented Driving Cavity™ has been the driving force behind Sonartec's retail and Tour success for the past 4 years. The Driving Cavity removes mass from the sole and back of the club head, allowing Sonartec to manipulate the horizontal and vertical Center of Gravity (CG) position within the club head. The design redistributes weight to the heel and the toe, pulling the CG deep within the club head for forgiveness on miss-hits. The design also raises the CG, producing a penetrating ball flight that maximizes distance. Controlling the CG positions enables Sonartec to develop performance-oriented golf clubs designed to meet the specific needs of every player type - from the beginning golfer looking for forgiveness to the professional looking for control and workability.
