Golf Digest Recognizes Seven Springs

Press Release

CHAMPION, Pennsylvania, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The golf course at Seven Springs -- Mountain Resort recently received a three and one half star rating in the sixth edition of Golf Digest's Best Places to Play. The rating is out of a highest possible five star rating. The course opened in 1969, and it has been a popular spring, summer and fall attraction for resort guests. "There is a dedicated staff here that takes pride in maintaining the course and providing the best possible golf experience to each and every guest who visits," comments Matt Trimbur, head PGA Professional. "We are proud to receive the recognition from the readers of a well-respected publication," adds Trimbur.

Places to Play began in 1963 as a Golf Digest insert. With the 6th edition, some 20,000 Golf Digest readers have filled out course ballots, sharing their opinions and experiences on more than 3,500 courses in North America and the Caribbean.

Places to Play provides golfers with comprehensive information on public- access golf courses. Golf Digest readers reviewed thousands of courses they played over the previous year and rated them using a five-point scale for five separate criteria: the overall golf experience, the value for the money, the standard of service at the facility, the overall conditioning of the course, and the normal pace of play for an 18-hole round of golf. In addition, readers were invited to write comments on their experiences at each of the courses they rated -- both the good and the bad.

A team of 8 editors reviewed every comment -- great care was taken to use comments that were fair, accurate and representative of the sample. Reader star ratings were averaged, then compiled on a bell curve to reflect a course's relative strength.

Seven Springs offers a variety of overnight golf packages throughout the season. Golfers will enjoy the mountaintop course, the full service pro shop and the menu of lessons from the PGA staff.

The Laurel Highlands resort offers plenty for golfers to do after they finish their round, including a variety of dining options, lounges and a line up of indoor and outdoor activities. Children are also likely to enjoy the children's programs and daily fun distractions that Seven Springs offers.

"In addition to the overnight packages, we also offer great corporate packages and special promotions for day guests," says Trimbur. Seven Springs' golf season lasts through the end of October.

Seven Springs Mountain Resort is Pennsylvania's largest ski and year round resort. Located in Champion, the resort is easily accessible from either exit 91 or 110 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
