Discounted golf – and a chance to travel to Scotland

Press Release

The International Pairs has launched a series of open events to enable golfers whose clubs are still to register to take part in the world’s largest club competition. The first open event for the 2004 competition takes place at Torwoodlee Golf Club, Galashiels, on Sunday, August 8.

The cost of entry is just £25 per person which includes the green fee. And two courses in the south are also hosting events which will send the victors to Scotland for the semi-final.

Dale Hill, in East Sussex, is holding the first English open event on Sunday, August 8, while Sandford Springs, in Hampshire, hosts another a week later.

Cost of entry to the Dale Hill event is just £35 per person, which includes entry to the International Pairs, a green fee AND a buggy – a 46 per cent saving on the normal green fee cost alone.

At Sandford Springs entry is just £30 – including green fee and entry to the competition – a saving of 25 per cent on the normal green fee. And the winner gets to travel to Scotland for the International Pairs semi-final – not a bad return for the cost of a round of drinks in the clubhouse.

Around 50 pairs are expected to compete at each venue for a place in the semi-final to take place at a championship course in Scotland.

The open event does what it says on the tin – it is open to all golfers with a current official handicap certificate. This may be somebody whose club is not yet participating in the event or even those who missed out in their own qualifying event.

Like all International Pairs qualifiers, the winners of the event progress to a semi-final in Scotland and receive a prize of:

•Accommodation north of the border
•An invitation to a special Scottish-themed welcome reception
•Competition golf on one of the country’s top courses

If they then make the cut they will stay on in Scotland for two more days and experience the golfing event of the year including:

•Accommodation at the magnificent Cardrona Hotel Golf and Country Club.
•Two rounds of competition golf at Cardrona on their superb course
•The championship gala dinner
•The chance of winning the coveted International Pairs Champions title in the full glare of the country’s media.

To enter please contact the International Pairs on 0870 033 0633 to obtain a booking form or download an entry form from the website at: www.internationalpairs.com

All forms should be returned to International Pairs, Suite 111 Victory House, Somers Road North, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO1 1PJ. The closing date for entries is August 6, 2004.
