adidas Golf Wins Footwear Count at Canarias Open de España

Press Release

adidas Golf proudly announced that at this week's European Tour event, the Canarias Open de España, the company achieved its first outright footwear count victory of the 2003 PGA European Tour season. London-based Sports Marketing Surveys Ltd. -- an independent agency that has covered the European Tour full-time since 1994 -- tallied the victory, reporting that 72 pairs of adidas Z Traxion Tour golf shoes were put into play versus 68 for the nearest manufacturer. This week's victory built on last week's count at the Algarve Open de Portugal, where adidas Golf and the market leader tied for the number-one position, both with 68 pairs of shoes in play.

Prior to 2002, the market leader had never lost a tournament shoe count on the European Tour. adidas Golf broke that streak by winning three footwear counts outright in 2002, at the Algarve Open de Portugal, Novotel Perrier Open de France and the Trophée Lancôme, as well as tying for number one at two additional tournaments.

"We're thrilled that the success that the adidas brand achieved on the European Tour in 2002 is now continuing into 2003," said Bob Maggiore, Marketing Manager for adidas Golf. "It's an indication that more of the world's best players are choosing to wear adidas Golf footwear because of the high performance and comfort that it consistently provides."
