CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2004--Taking her cue
from professional golfers the world over, the winner of the 2004
United States Women's Amateur Championship relied on the dynamic
combination of the ERC(R) Fusion(R) Driver and HX(R) Tour Golf Ball
from Callaway Golf (NYSE:ELY)throughout her march to victory in the
prestigious event. The champion capped her spectacular week on Sunday
with a 2-up victory in the finals at the Kahkwa Club in Erie, PA, to
give the Fusion-HX Tour combination three national titles so far this
year, including the U.S. Women's Open and the Canadian Women's Open.
The best driver-ball combination in golf has now won 16 professional
titles worldwide -- and one very prestigious national amateur
championship.
In addition to her driver and golf ball, the 17-year-old champion
also used a bag full of Callaway Golf equipment, including
Steelhead(R) III 3-strong and 5 Fairway Woods, Steelhead X-16(R) Pro
Series Irons, and an Odyssey(R) DFX(R) 2-Ball Putter. Callaway Golf
Company products were also the #1 irons, woods and putters for the
championship.
Elsewhere, Callaway Golf drivers enjoyed a most successful weekend
at the European Tour's BMW Russian Open, where Callaway Golf was the
No. 1 brand with 93 drivers in play, the Great Big Bertha(R) II 415
Driver was the No.1 model followed closely by the ERC Fusion Driver,
and 6 of the Top 10 and ties used a Callaway Golf driver.
Tour results are through the week ending 08/15/04 and reflect data
from the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship and the European PGA tour.
