adidas Golf, makers of ClimaCool golf apparel, has created two special edition Z-Traxion models for the 2004 Ryder Cup. The first features an upper decorated in the stars and stripes motif of the American flag; the second features an upper decorated with the yellow stars and blue background of the flag of the European union.

These special-edition Ryder Cup shoes will be made available to members of this year's U.S. and European squads who currently wear adidas Golf footwear. That includes Fred Funk for the U.S. team and Ian Poulter, Paul McGinley, Sergio Garcia and team captain Bernhard Langer for the European team.

"The Ryder Cup Matches are one of the greatest and most anticipated sporting events in the world," said Bob Maggiore, Global Director of Marketing for adidas Golf. "These special-edition shoes are a fun way for us and our athletes who are participating in the Matches to celebrate the spirit of this great event."

Ryder Cup special edition Z-Traxion footwear was created specially for participants in this year's Matches and will not be made available to the public. adidas Golf footwear is worn by dozens of tour professionals around the world, including Funk, Garcia, McGinley, Langer, Justin Rose, K.J. Choi, Peter Lonard, Hank Kuehne, Hide Tanaka, Se Ri Pak and Natalie Gulbis.
