Cobra Introduces Revolutionary King Cobra Inertia Series Iron Line

Press Release

Moment of Inertia (MOI) measures a clubhead’s resistance to rotation or twisting caused by off-center impacts. Relative to golf clubs, the greater the MOI, the more forgiving they are when hit. With this is in mind, Cobra Golf introduces the revolutionary King Cobra Inertia Series Irons, a seven-model family designed with high inertia properties promoting a superior Sweet Zone, greater accuracy and distinct launch characteristics.

The nomenclature of the Inertia Series models corresponds with the approximate Inertia (I) value and launch (trajectory) of each model. The Inertia value is determined by multiplying the Iyy Inertia by the CG depth measurement. The larger the Inertia value, the higher the launch and the greater the Sweet Zone for accuracy and forgiveness. The 3400I/XH model features the largest Sweet Zone of the three different models and promotes extra-high launch with slight workability, while the 3100I/H has a very large Sweet Zone with high launch and moderate workability. The 3400I/XH and 3100I/H are available in Men’s, Senior and Women’s models. The 2300I/M has a large Sweet Zone with mid-high launch club for competitive players who seek the ultimate in control and workability.

“Building upon our mission of making the game more enjoyable for all golfers, the Inertia Series is the most technologically advanced and broadest family of irons we have ever produced,” commented Jeff Harmet, President, Cobra Golf. “The 3400I/XH, 3100I/H and 2300I/M feature distinct launch, Sweet Zone and workability characteristics, which means golfers of all abilities will find a model that is right for them. The bottom line, Inertia Series irons offer a unique first step in personal customization, providing the ideal balance of launch and forgiveness.”

The Inertia Series irons also feature premium graphite shafts from Graphite Design (YS), Aldila (NV) and premium steel shafts from Nippon and True Temper.

The new King Cobra Inertia Series 3400I/XH and 3100I/H iron lines will commence shipping November 1, while the 2300I/M line will be available in February 2005 with the following suggested retail prices per set:

3400I/XH steel shafts 4-GW/$750. 3400I/XH graphite shafts 4-GW/$875.
3100I/H steel shafts 3-PW/$560. 3100I/H graphite shafts 3-PW/$680.
2300I/M steel shafts 3-PW/$620 (Available February 2005).

Trial of the King Cobra Inertia Series Irons will be promoted through national and regional print advertising, in-shop point-of-purchase displays and at Cobra Demo day events.

FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE BENEFITS OF KING COBRA INERTIA IRONS

KING COBRA 3400I/XH

Designed for the 10+ handicap player who wants the ultimate in accuracy, forgiveness and carry distance.

Cobra’s most technologically advanced irons ever, the King Cobra 3400 I/XH feature a TRANSITION DESIGN.

The set transitions from a hollow back in the 3 through 7 irons to a cavity back in the 8-iron through lob wedge, providing optimal weight distribution for the extra-high launch and extra-large Sweet Zone.

Launch Characteristics: The XH on the club represents Extra-High launch which is the result of an extremely low and deep Center of Gravity (CG).

Accuracy: With an inertia value of 3400, the 3400 I/XH models feature the largest and most forgiving Sweet Zone of all the King Cobra Inertia Series Irons across all nine points across the clubface.

Feel: As part of the transition design, the 3400 I/XH irons have two unique vibration-absorbing technologies. The 3 through 7 irons utilize a special injection urethane design, while the 8-iron through lob wedge feature a molded urethane insert. Together, they offer superior feel on every shot.

Shafts: The irons are designed with two premium shaft choices including the ultra-lightweight Cobra/Graphite Design YS-5.1 (55g), and the Nippon N.S. 900XH (90g) steel shaft. Both contribute to higher swing speeds for superior distance and control.

KING COBRA 3100I/H

Designed for the 5+ handicap player who wants the perfect balance of accuracy, forgiveness and carry distance.

The King Cobra 3100 I/H irons feature an UNDERCUT DESIGN, distributing the weight low and back in the club for a deep CG and high MOI. The result is a large Sweet Zone and high launch for long distance and forgiveness.

Launch Characteristics: The H on the club represents High launch which is the result of an extremely low and deep center of gravity.

Accuracy: The 3100 I/H models feature a large and forgiving Sweet Zone across all nine points across the clubface.

Feel: The 3100 I/H irons feature a vibration-dampening urethane insert in the undercut cavity for superior feel.

Shafts: The irons are designed with two high performance shafts including the lightweight Cobra/Aldila NV-HL 70 (70g) graphite, and the Nippon N.S.PRO 1030H (103g) steel shaft. Both contribute to higher swing speeds for optimal carry distance and control.

KING COBRA 2300I/M

Designed for the 0-15 handicap player who demands greater workability and prefer a mid-high launch.

The King Cobra 2300I/M irons feature an UNDERCUT PLAYER’S DESIGN, as well as a thinner top-line, mid-sole width, a low, deep CG and a generous Sweet Zone.

Launch Characteristics: The M on the club represents a Mid-high launch which is the desired trajectory for accomplished players seeking increased workability and control.

Accuracy: The 2300 I/M irons offer a balance of accuracy and workability with its large Sweet Zone across all nine points across the clubface.

Feel: An integrated urethane insert dampens vibration on this control-enhancing undercut player’s design.

Shafts: The 2300 I/M irons feature Cobra/True Temper Dynamic F-115 steel (115g) shafts.
