Greg Norman Joins MacGregor Golf Tour Staff Press Release
MacGregor Golf announced today that Greg Norman has joined the MacGregor Golf Tour Staff. Norman has added a MacGregor MACTEC NVG driver to his bag beginning with this weekend's Franklin Templeton Shootout. MacGregor will debut the MACTEC NVG driver at the end of January 2005.
Known as "The Great White Shark," the two-time British Open Champion and World Golf Hall of Fame member has entertained and thrilled golf fans for years. Norman's aggressive style of play coupled with his charismatic demeanor helped him dominate the game for years, including a 331-week stretch as the World's No. 1 ranked player. Those same qualities also contributed to his outstanding success as an entrepreneur.
"Greg Norman is one of the most successful golfers in the history of the game," said Barry Schneider, owner and CEO of MacGregor. "Greg's passion for the game is well known, as is his desire to involve himself with only the very best products in the world. The catalyst to this relationship is clearly Greg's excitement over the exclusive technologies and extraordinary performance of our MACTEC NVG driver."
"I have joined MacGregor's Tour Staff because I see something unique in the Company — a culture of innovation that this industry has not seen in some time," Norman said. "MacGregor's products symbolize superior craftsmanship and advanced technology, and the new MACTEC NVG driver reinforces the brand's excellence. I admire Barry's vision for MacGregor, and I look forward to working with him and his team."
Norman joins MacGregor's accomplished Tour Staff of Double Masters Champion José Maria Olazabal, Double Australian Open Champion Aaron Baddeley and Double US Open Champion Lee Janzen.
Norman will play a full complement of MacGregor clubs, including the soon-to-be-released V-FOIL M675 forged muscleback irons, V-FOIL TOUR wedges, MACTEC NVG 3-wood and driver. Norman, who celebrates his 50th birthday February 10, 2005, intends to play a number of tournaments on the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, as well as his customary overseas schedule, including events in Australia, Europe and Asia.
