Solar Technology Integrated into Golf Ball Flight Monitor

Press Release

KINGSTON, N.Y., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- A new internet-enabled product incorporating solar technology was recently introduced to the golf market. The RangeMonitor by RangeStats, Inc. is a golf ball flight monitor employing a SunWize(R) solar module to charge the battery.

The RangeMonitor uses radar to capture practice session data providing instant analysis at the tee and on the internet. Fred Kestler, president of RangeStats, commented, "The SunWize solar module enables RangeStats to move technology, previously requiring AC power, to outdoor driving ranges, where our customers prefer to practice their golf game. This solar solution allows us to operate our radar system and WiFi Internet equipment to transfer information to our Internet site from up to 2,500 feet away from our customer's facilities."

SunWize specializes in working with original equipment manufacturers' (OEM) to integrate solar into their products. Mark Wilkerson, VP business development at SunWize, states, "We have developed over 100 products with OEM's, from entrepreneurs to Fortune 500 companies. Our proprietary processes for manufacturing solar modules add value to the end product. They look good and they work." Solar eliminates the need to recharge a product with AC electricity. The module automatically charges the battery and the product remains in operation during recharging. Maintaining the state-of-charge extends battery life and lowers the product's life-cycle cost.

SunWize modules, ranging in size from under one watt to twenty-five watts, produce electricity to match the product's power requirements. "The high output of the SunWize modules provides the power we need in a compact package," stated Kestler. A polymer encapsulation process creates modules that are weather and impact resistant, and visually pleasing.
