Sonartec Expands Its Hybrid Product Lineup

Press Release

Posted 2005-01-17

Sonartec announced that in response to the overwhelming demand for their Md Hybrid Transition Club, the line has been expanded to include 15 and 25-degree lofts. The Md received an extraordinary amount of publicity as the only fairway wood in the bag of the 2004 British Open Champion and quickly became the most popular Sonartec club both on and off the PGA Tour. The Md will now also include a comprehensive ladies line, as well as left-handed models which will be available in 17, 19, and 21 degree lofts.

Part of what makes the Md so popular is the extreme versatility it offers to players of varying skill levels. The patented Sonartec Driving Cavity™ makes this club very easy to hit from nearly every conceivable lie and location on the golf course while offering players all the distance of a fairway wood with the accuracy of a long iron. Like the rest of the Sonartec product lines, the Md's most distinctive feature is the deep, penetrating ball flight it provides.

"The demand surrounding the Md has been remarkable," said Sonartec Vice President Jim Uno. "The 399 Md's we had in play on the PGA Tour this year represented roughly one third of our total club count, and that popularity with the Tour professionals translated into immense demand among consumers."

As is often the case, the most effective way to respond to such demand is to take advantage of it by expanding an already popular line of clubs. Originally designed to replace only the one-through-four irons, the Md line of clubs will now include the 15° loft, which is designed to replace the 3-wood; as well as a 25° alternative for the five iron. Sonartec will also be introducing a new ladies' version of the premium UST iRoD Hybrid shaft currently used in the Md.

Sonartec is a Carlsbad, CA based fairway wood manufacturer. Sonartec's innovative Driving Cavity™ technology raises the center of gravity and produces a deep, penetrating ball flight. Sonartec was the third most played fairway wood on the PGA Tour in 2004 with 1231 clubs in play by more than 100 PGA Tour professionals, more than 500 clubs higher than the #4 brand.
