In preparation for another outstanding year in 2005, Sonartec Golf introduces the new and improved SS-2.5 and SS-3.5 fairway woods. Updated from the classic Sonartec SS-02 and SS-03 models, the new versions feature slight modifications to increase performance and ease of use.

Adapted from, and designed to replace the PGA Tour-proven SS-02 model, the SS-2.5 features the new ST-385™ "Hot Face" alloy. The new face alloy will increase ball velocity at impact while adding 10-15 yards to the distance for Tour-level players. The perimeter weighting system has also been improved, which further tightens the dispersion of errant shots and makes the club easier to get airborne. The SS-2.5 fairway wood is a mid-face model, which makes it ideal for low to high handicappers alike who want a slightly higher launch product.

"The SS-2.5 is really designed to fit a wide range of players," PGA Tour Representative Thane Fisher said. "The mid-face produces a high-launch and low-spin ball flight which will make it easier for mid-to-high handicappers to get the ball airborne while also providing penetrating distance for the low handicappers and professional-level players."

Meanwhile, the SS-3.5, which was adapted from the immensely popular SS-03, is the deep-faced version designed to fit lower handicappers. Like the SS-2.5, the SS-3.5 also features the new ST-385 "Hot Face" alloy. Also like the 2.5, the SS-3.5 is equipped with an improved perimeter weighting system designed to tighten dispersion on errant shots while providing a higher launch angle compared to the SS-03.

"We expect the SS-3.5 will prove to be very popular among Tour professionals," said Fisher. "The deep-face design will provide greater shot-shaping ability while still producing the trademark Sonartec deep, penetrating ball flight."

Both the SS-2.5 and SS-3.5 fairway woods come standard with a premium Fujikura Tour Platform 26.3 shaft. "The shaft alone is a $125 retail product," states Jim Uno, Vice president of Sonartec. "Our new head combined with this extremely versatile, high-end shaft will turn some heads. We want to exceed the expectations of our customers, and I am confident the mix provided by this club will do just that."

The SS-2.5 is available in 13, 14, 15, 17, 19 and 21-degree lofts. The SS-3.5 is available in 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, and 22-degree lofts. Each is available in A, R, S and X flexes.

Sonartec is a Carlsbad, CA based fairway wood manufacturer, known for its innovative Driving Cavity™ technology. The Driving Cavity raises the center of gravity in the head, producing a deep, penetrating ball flight. It also moves the center of gravity rearward in the head and distributes the weight to the heel and toe, providing a wider, more forgiving sweet spot. Sonartec recorded 17 worldwide wins in 2004 with 10 different models, and had more than 1200 clubs in play during 2004 PGA Tour events. Since its inception in 1999, Sonartec has become the #3 most-played fairway wood on the PGA Tour, with more than 120 PGA Tour professionals using the clubs without compensation.
