When a speed-lovin’ man gets behind the wheel of a performance car there’s a moment just prior to take-off that’s pure bliss. Then, when the pedal is floored and the car explodes down the road, the adrenaline starts pumping through the veins like water through a firehose. For me, a similar rush happens when I’m on the tee on a long, open par-5 where the goal is to crush it as far as my butt cheeks – and titanium driver – will allow.
Thanks to La Jolla Club Golf, I have a new performance weapon that I’m “driving” with reckless abandon. The LJC Titianium Drivers are, according to the California company, the best kept secret in golf. I don’t dispute the claim.
La Jolla Club Golf, a company that is experiencing incredible growth, builds “hot” drivers. In fact, they are the closest to the .830 maximum COR allowed by the USGA.
Every La Jolla driver goes through 85 quality control checks before being approved for shipping. That’s unheard of in the golf business. The drivers, which consist of a two-piece construction process where the entire titanium head is cast and only the SP700J face is plasma welded to the head, are possibly the most consistent on the market.
I have been using my 450cc model (there is also a 400cc model) with an Aldila NV shaft (many custom shaft options available) for a few weeks now. And I can’t, for the life of me, come up with anything negative to say about this club. Impact, ball flight – and that white-knuckled rush of having some serious power potential at your fingertips – all combine to make this a secret worth discovering. www.ljcgolf.com. Drivers are priced between $299 and $599, depending on the shaft.
