Sonartec Tops Tour Counts in US and Japan

Press Release

Posted 2005-04-02

Sonartec Golf celebrated a #1 hybrid club count this weekend at the Player's Championship at Sawgrass, as well as #1 fairway wood and hybrid club counts on the Japan Tour. In all, there were 80 Sonartec fairway woods and hybrids in play between the two events, including 25 Md hybrid Transition Clubs™.

The 12 Md hybrid Transition Clubs in play at Sawgrass tied Sonartec for the #1 hybrid club count at a PGA Tour event for the second time in 2005. Earning a #1 club count at an event as prestigious as the TPC, widely considered the PGA Tour's "fifth major", is a significant accomplishment for Sonartec considering the limited number of participants. All told Sonartec had 24 total fairway woods and hybrids in play, earning them their 12th #3 fairway wood ranking in 13 events on the PGA Tour.

"Earning a #1 club count at an event as prestigious as the TPC is no small feat for Sonartec," said Sonartec President Toru Kamatari. "This is further proof that our clubs are the ultimate in high-performance golf equipment, and that is true for players of all skill levels."

In addition to their success at the TPC, Sonartec also dominated the fairway wood and hybrid club counts on the Japanese Tour last week. At the Token Homemate Cup, Sonartec had 56 total fairway woods and hybrid clubs in play, earning them the top spot with the #1 fairway wood count for that event. In addition to the #1 fairway wood count, Sonartec also earned its third #1 hybrid club ranking in 2005 with 13 Md's in play.

Sonartec is a Carlsbad, California-based fairway wood and hybrid club manufacturer made famous by its innovative Driving Cavity™ technology. Sonartec was the #3 most-played fairway wood company on the PGA Tour in 2004. The 1231 fairway woods and hybrids put in play in 2004 out-paced the #4 brand by more than 500 clubs, all without endorsement or tee-up compensation.
