Soggy BellSouth Classic Flooded With Sonartec Md's

Press Release

Posted 2005-04-08

Sonartec Golf earned sole possession of the #1 hybrid club count at the BellSouth Classic this weekend with 15 Md hybrid Transition Clubs™ in play. It is the first time Sonartec has earned a clear-cut #1 club count at a PGA Tour event since the company's inception in 1999. Last week at the Player's Championship and at the Buick Invitational in February, Sonartec earned a tie for the #1 hybrid count with a major manufacturer.

A total of 13 participants at the water-logged BellSouth classic placed 15 Md's in play, providing Sonartec with its second-highest hybrid count of the season. The Southern Swing has been a successful one for Sonartec, as they have recorded 8 Top-10 finishes and a pair of #1 hybrid counts in the last four weeks. Half of those Top-10 finishes were recorded by the defending Champion at the BellSouth. They also earned #1 hybrid and fairway wood counts on the Japan Tour last week.

"Holding the #1 hybrid count on the PGA Tour is a major milestone for us," said Sonartec Vice President Jim Uno. "Our Md hybrid has been a huge success both on Tour and in the marketplace, and it's exciting to see the hard work of our entire team pay off."

In addition to the 15 hybrids in play, Sonartec also had another 13 fairway woods in play, giving the company its 13th #3 fairway wood ranking in 14 PGA Tour events in 2005 with a total of 28 clubs in play. This is also an impressive achievement, considering Sonartec does not compensate any professionals with tee-up money or endorsement contracts.

Sonartec is a Carlsbad, California-based fairway wood and hybrid club manufacturer made famous by its innovative Driving Cavity™ technology. Sonartec was the #3 most-played fairway wood brand on the PGA Tour in 2004. The 1231 fairway woods and hybrids put in play in 2004 out-paced the #4 brand by more than 500 clubs, all without endorsement or tee-up compensation.
