adidas Golf Introduces ClimaCompression Men's Shirts

Press Release

Posted 2005-05-15

Keeping in line with the adidas credo that golf is a sport, and today's golfers are athletes, adidas Golf has introduced a new line of men's golf shirts, targeted at the advanced golfer-athlete.

The lightweight, second-skin garment is designed to be worn as a layer under a polo shirt or outerwear to increase muscle warmth. The shirt employs adidas' ClimaLite fabric technology that wicks sweat away from the skin to the outer fabric face for quick evaporation, keeping the golfer drier and more comfortable. But the biggest benefit by far is the improved muscle endurance.

"The shirt will actually warm the muscles, resulting in less muscle fatigue throughout the duration of play." says Patricia Dahan, Director of Global Apparel for adidas Golf.

Product Details

adidas Golf ClimaCompression line is available in solid colors white, navy and black and in either a short sleeve crew or long sleeve mock version. The ClimaCompression® shirt incorporates a variety of features:

- Improves muscle endurance through compression fit

- Optimizes muscle warmth; keeps the body warm without bulky layers

- Greater freedom of movement for the golf swing

- ClimaLite® technology for moisture management; dries 5X faster than cotton

- Longer fit than similar non-golf second-skin shirts; will stay tucked during the swing

- Flatock Seams; superior support

- Antibacterial treatment

Sergio Garcia debuted the garment on tour at Augusta in April. Select TaylorMade -- adidas Golf PGA Tour Staff professionals will wear the shirts during competition in 2005. Nationwide Tour players who have worn the shirt extensively in competition have expressed overwhelmingly positive reactions to the new technology. Point of sales displays will augment support.

The shirt is made from 88% polyester and 12% spandex. Manufactures suggested retail price (MSRP) is $40 for the short sleeve and $45 for the long sleeve. Availability starts May 15, 2005 through adidas Golf's green grass and resort accounts and leading golf specialty retailers worldwide.
