TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff Professional Paula Creamer Wins Evian Masters

Posted 2005-07-29

TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional Paula Creamer, 18, won her second LPGA tournament of her young career at the Evian Masters. Creamer posted a 71 in the final round to go along with rounds of 68-68-66 for a 15-under-par total of 273.

Creamer, who won the Sybase Classic earlier this year in her rookie season, was under control all day in the final round. She started the day seven shots clear of her nearest competitor after a sizzling 66 in the third round and ended up with an eight shot margin of victory after all was said and done.

Creamer became the youngest player to win a multi-day tournament in LPGA history when she won the Sybase Classic; this win was significant for many reasons as well.

Creamer earned $375,000 for the win, moving her above the $1 million mark and into the No. 3 slot on the LPGA money list. She became the youngest and quickest player in LPGA Tour history to earn more then $1 million and also broke Karrie Webb's 1996 record for most money won by a player in her rookie season.

The victory also gets Creamer closer towards a personal goal of making the Solheim Cup Team, the win moves her into ninth place on the points list. The top 10 in points as of Aug. 28 will automatically make the team. Creamer's point total is quite impressive if you consider that she had only a portion of one year to accumulate points, while the rest of the players have been building points over a year and a half.

Key to Creamer's victory was her outstanding ball striking from tee to green. Creamer hit a radar-like 76.7% of the fairways with her r7 quad driver and also had her LT irons firing on all cylinders, hitting 84.7% of her greens in regulation.*

"We congratulate Paula on her second victory," says Chuck Presto, Vice President of Global Sports Marketing of TaylorMade-adidas Golf. "We're pleased we could play a part in her first two victories on tour. We’re sure they will only be the beginning of a brilliant career."

In Creamer's bag: TaylorMade r7 quad driver, TaylorMade r7 3-wood, TaylorMade Rescue Mids (3, 4), TaylorMade LT irons (5-PW), TaylorMade rac AW. She also wore adidas Golf footwear and apparel.
