Sonartec's One-Two Punch Floors Field at Buick Open

This weekend at Buick Open, the #2 player in the world used a Sonartec fairway wood to successfully defend his title at Warwick Hills and make history by becoming the only player ever to win the Buick Open three times in its 47-year run. The Buick Open proved to be Sonartec's most successful PGA event of the season, as the company collected a second place finish, as well as two other Top-10's in addition to the victory.

Though the Champion won the tournament with relative ease, the weekend was not without drama. The stage was set when the two best players in the world drew a dream third round pairing, and was quickly dashed when the Champion responded with a flawless 9-under-par 63 while using his 13 degree SS-series three wood. Despite seemingly getting buried on Saturday, the #1 player in the world again made a furious charge on Sunday, drawing to within three strokes after eagling the 14th. In the end, it was not meant to be as the Champion calmly sank his birdie put at the 17th to cement the win.

Perhaps equally as impressive was the runner up, who also played nearly perfect golf despite having the cameras focused on him all weekend. Last year's BellSouth Classic Champion was anything but in awe of the #2 player in the world as he matched him shot-for-shot on Sunday, earning his second runner up finish in 2005. He was joined in the Top-10 by the 6th and 8th place finishers.
