"Hot" New MacGregor Clubs Highlight Golf Digest 2006 List

Press Release

Posted 2006-01-16

MacGregor's all-new MACTEC NVG2 Driver, NVG2 TOUR Driver, NVG2 Fairway Woods and NVG2 cavity back irons were recognized as some of the hottest clubs for 2006 by the editors of Golf Digest magazine in their 2006 Hot List. Also making the prestigious list were MacGregor's M675 forged muscleback irons, and The Fat Lady Swings mallet and M1 blade putters by Bobby Grace.

The MACTEC NVG2 Driver, Fairway Woods and Irons benefit from MacGregor's new proprietary Cup Face 360°(tm) technology that completely eliminates face inserts. Its exclusive Plasma Welding process occurs 100% off the clubface. With no face welds the entire face is the sweet spot, making every shot feel like it was hit dead center.

In recognizing the "smashtastic potential" of the MACTEC NVG2 Driver, Golf Digest editors noted its ability to consistently deliver long, straight drives with the tightest dispersion pattern of any driver tested. The MACTEC NVG2 Driver is designed for mid to high handicappers looking for increased distance, forgiveness and accuracy. It uses a super light (0.6mm) one-piece Titanium Light Crown structure for reduced spin that translates into higher launch angles and longer, straighter drives. A proprietary Fujikura(tm) Quadra Action shaft with three bend points increases clubhead speed. More clubhead speed means greater distance.

Editors also recognized the benefits of Cup Face 360° technology in the all-new MACTEC NVG2 irons, which they characterized as "ridiculously easy to hit" and a "technology smorgasbord". Helping optimize the performance of Cup Face 360° is a face made entirely from 450 Maraging Steel combined with a Hollow-Body Structure that creates a large, high-rebound zone with maximum energy transference for incredible forgiveness and explosive distance.

Testers recognized the new MACTEC NVG2 Fairway Woods, for "all-around strong playability" with consistent trajectory, easy-to-hit performance, good dispersion and forgiveness on mis-hits. Editors took special note of their CG-lowering precision Tungsten weighting and Cup Face 360° technology that increases the sweet spot by as much as 20-percent compared to woods with conventional 'face insert' technology.

Golf Digest editors also highlighted the all-new The Fat Lady Swings mallet putter by Bobby Grace, saying "we'll match its balance against anything else out there," and noting the benefits of its Adjustable Heel/Toe weighting for playing courses with different green speeds. They also took note of the "well balanced and easy to move" quality of the Bobby Grace M1 blade putter with its Annealed Beryllium Copper face insert that delivers "consistent rolls time after time."
