As the 2006 PGA Tour schedule approaches its finale at The Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola, the Titleist tradition of success continues among the top players on Tour. Led by Adam Scott, the fifth-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking, eight Titleist brand ambassadors are currently among the top 30 money leaders on the PGA Tour (through the WGC-American Express Championship). The top 30 players on the money list after the final full-field Tour event will qualify to play in The Tour Championship. Other Titleist brand ambassadors currently ranked in the top 30 include Brett Quigley, Arron Oberholser, Zach Johnson, Lucas Glover, Ben Curtis, Tom Pernice, Jr., and Ernie Els. Two additional Titleist brand ambassadors, Steve Stricker and Davis Love III, lurk just outside the top 30 and will be looking to make a move in the final month of the season.
Largely through the leadership of Titleist brand ambassadors, Titleist golf clubs are making their way into the bags of many of the golfers currently in the top 30. Titleist drivers, including the Pro Titanium 905R, the number one 460cc driver on the 2006 PGA Tour, are being played by 11 of the top 30 players, more than any other brand. Titleist irons are in the bags of eight players in the top 30, including two sets of the new 755 irons. No other brand can boast as many sets of irons in play among the top 30 players. Titleist fairway metals, led by the new PT 906F2, Vokey Design wedges and Scotty Cameron by Titleist putters are also the clear favorites in the fairway metal, wedge, and putter categories with shares among the top 30 players of 27%, 38%, and 40%, respectively.
Titleist golf clubs have also enjoyed tremendous success related to overall Tour usage this season. Year-to-date, Titleist holds the top spot in the iron, wedge, and putter categories with respective usage rates of 22%, 37%, and 37%.
