Graphite Design International ("GDI") - maker of some of the most widely played graphite driver shaft models on the PGA TOUR - today announces it led the wood shaft brand count and had the two most-played graphite wood shaft models at the Japan Tour's Dunlop Phoenix, according to the Darrell Survey.
The victory marked the 133rd consecutive tournament in which Graphite Design has finished atop the wood shaft brand count on the Japan Tour, an unprecedented streak dating to 2002. Graphite Design also fielded the two most-played graphite wood shaft models while nine top-16 finishers in the star-studded event wielded Graphite Design shafts.
"International competition presents an ideal venue to showcase Graphite Design shafts, which once again proved most popular among an elite field," said Akio Karashima, CEO of Graphite Design. "Top players the world over recognize the accuracy and distance advantages built into every Graphite Design shaft model."
Last year, Graphite Design shafts were used by 18 winners on the PGA TOUR and 42 winners worldwide, helping them amass more than $75 million in earnings. They were also played by PGA TOUR leaders in Total Driving (distance plus accuracy), five of the top-10 players in Driving Accuracy Percentage, four of the top-10 money winners, and top-10 players in the World Golf Rankings.
On the Japan Tour, Graphite Design shafts were victorious 16 times in 2005.
