Hold-N-OneŽ, a new wall-mounted golf bag holder designed by Donald Corey of Raleigh, North Carolina, is now being distributed throughout Australia, Europe and Asia by Swingmaster-Golf.com. Corey, whose heritage is Australian, successfully introduced Hold-N-OneŽ in Sydney in August during "Workshopped '06," part of Australia's premier design festival, Sydney Design '06. Swingmaster Golf picked up the product for non-U.S. distribution shortly afterwards. It will make its official U.S. debut during the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, January 25-27, 2007.
Hold-N-OneŽ grabs the mouth of a golf bag through a simple spring-action motion to keep the bag firmly upright. According to its designer, 90 percent of a golf bag's weight is above the center of gravity, which is why it can fall over so easily. Hold-N-OneŽ solves that problem and allows golf bag storage to consume minimal space.
Donald Corey is president of The Other Edge, Inc., a product design studio in Raleigh, N,C., and Assistant Professor of Industrial Design at Appalachian State University. Hold-N-OneŽ is his studio's first self-generated product, which means he created the initial idea, patented it, had prototypes made, and financed the manufacturing.
