Review: Great Divider 3 Wheel EBS Golf Bag

Don Fisher

If you’re a golfer who enjoys pushing your bag with a three-wheel cart, this bag is designed for you and your cart. It’s the lightest, full-featured push/pull bag on the market at just 6 pounds. This bag has the 14-way full-length divider system patented by Great Divider Golf. The bag comes with Great Divider’s Crushproof and Elevated Base System Technology that helps keep your clubs organized and prevents them from banging into each other. The bag comes with elastic tee loops, 2 EZ snap Exterior Putter clips, 8 zippered pockets, 2 mesh windowed pockets, 2 mesh pockets, a Velcro glove holder, Dual neoprene ball sleeves, an accessory carabineer, and a matching rain hood. There’s a waterproof pocket to protect your valuables in case of rain. There’s an insulated pocket for your beverage or snack. Did I mention 14 separate holes for all your clubs?

First thing you’ll notice is how well this bag fits a hand cart. I’ve got a BagBoy SC-500, and I’ve been less than pleased with how my golf bag fit with my cart. First thing you’ll find out if you have a stand-bag, is that they don’t work well with a cart, the legs get in the way. So I purchased a new bag, minus the stand, and that works better, but again, less than an ideal fit. The main problem was with those small metal snaps that are for the rain cover. It seems the metal snaps contact the top bracket that’s supposed to hold the bag in place. This causes the bag to twist on the cart, making it a pain in neck. With the 3 Wheel EBS bag, this is not a problem. The bag fits much better, and not one problem with those metal snaps being in the way. Now my bag doesn’t try to twist out of place any more. A problem I’ve had with some other bags is getting at my putter. It seems to me that the one club we all use on every hole, should have a separate place, outside the bag, so it’s easy to use. Some bags have a place for an umbrella, and in the past I’ve used that spot for my putter. With this bag, it comes with not one, but two spots just for your putter, one on each side of the bag. There’s a clip at the top and a small holder at the bottom of the bag to hold the grip end of your putter. It doesn’t matter if you’re right or left handed, your putter will now be sitting right next to your bag for quick access and replacement. Because it’s slightly away from all your other clubs, you don’t have to mess with a head cover on your putter anymore; it’s safe as is.

The EBS in the name stands for ELEVATED BASE SYSTEM. This means that your clubs will be held in the bag so as not to bang into each other. Your longer irons stick up even more than normal, making it that much easier to find the club you’re looking for with ease. The dual neoprene ball sleeves are a nice touch, making access to a new ball, (after you hit one into the water), a no brainer. You have easy access to up to 6 balls. When I first got this bag, it didn’t think much of the elastic tee loops, thinking I’d never use them. But then I filled all the loops with different size tees for different tee shots. I’ve got long tees for my driver, standard tees for my fairway woods, and short tees for my irons. No more digging around in my pocket for the exact size tee I need, I just pull one from the bag. It actually works a lot better than I ever imagined. I also light the fact that this bag is rather lightweight. If you check some of the other bags on the market, you’ll notice a lot of them are a lot heavier than this one, and it’s no fun lugging a heavy bag in an out of the car.

If you’ve ever struggled with getting a club in or out of your bag, because the grips were tangled up with the other clubs, you’ll really appreciate the 14 full-length divider system of this bag. It really works great. No more hassles with pulling a club, they all just slide right out, and back in just as easy. No more having to worry about your bag twisting on the cart, as this 3 Wheel bag was designed to fit a push cart, and it sure fits mine quite well. The materials, (420D Tartan Nylon, 600D Polyester) are top quality, and the workmanship is first class. There is only one thing I’d change on this bag, and that’s with the neoprene ball sleeves. They are made by sewing one piece of neoprene to the outside on one of the nylon pockets. This works find when the bag is upright, but when you lay the bag in the trunk of your car, the balls can come out. It would have been better if the pocket had neoprene on both sides of the ball, so as to hold the balls nice and tight. That’s something I’ll be passing on the people at Great Divider Golf. The 3 Wheel bag comes in black, royal blue, fire engine red, canary yellow, pink, periwinkle, and tangerine. If you can’t find a color to suit you, you need to get out more. The biggest problems I’ve had with this bag was finding something to put in all those pockets, that was after trying to figure out what color to get. I went with Fire Engine Red. Nothing like bright red with black trim to wake me up in the morning for my tee time. And if a Fire Engine Red, and Black golf bag ruins the concentration of my playing partner on the first tee, SO SORRY. Well, Maybe NOT!

One last item, if you go to the website, you will find that Great Divider Golf offers a total of six different models of golf bags to choose from, and one bag cover as well. All the models come with different features, so you should be able to find just the right features you are looking for in a bag in at least one model they sell. Picking out the model to get is almost as hard as picking out a color. Good luck making a decision. I sure had a hard time, but it was worth it.
