Callaway Golf
Staff Professional Morgan Pressel used Fusion Driver Technology, the
newest Callaway Golf woods, irons and golf ball science and a new
Odyssey Putter to become the youngest major champion in LPGA history
on Sunday at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage,
California.
With a 3-under-par 69 in Sunday's final round, the 18-year-old
Pressel finished the tournament at 3-under 285 at Mission Hills
Country Club. She played the last 24 holes without recording a bogey
and her final-round 69 was the lowest of the day. A birdie on the
par-5 18th proved to be the difference in her one-stroke win.
Pressel used the Fusion FT-3 Driver, the X Hot 3-wood, X Fairway
Woods (11 and 7), X-Forged Irons (5-9), the HX Tour Golf Ball and an
Odyssey White Hot XG Marxman Mallet Putter.
Pressel is the first American to win the Kraft Nabisco
Championship since 1999. After her victory, she took the traditional
winner's celebratory plunge into the pond next to the 18th green. She
was joined in the swim by her caddie and her grandmother, Evelyn
Krickstein.
Pressel, an honors student who graduated from high school just 10
months ago, has been poised for a win since she qualified for the 2001
U.S. Women's Open as a 12-year-old and competed at age 13.
