Matrix Driver and Hybrid Create Winning History

Press Release

Posted 2008-05-06

In what some are calling a ³flawless² performance, a 22-year-old became the youngest winner on the PGA TOUR in six years. With a five-shot win at the Wachovia Championship on Saturday, the Matrix OZIK TP-7 and Matrix OZIK XCON Altus Hybrid, helped create winning history.

Since switching his driver shaft to the Matrix OZIK TP-7 at the Shell Houston Open, the man nicknamed ³AK² has finished 1st, 2nd, and 19th and has reached a career high 7th in driving distance. The now 16th ranked player in the Official World Golf Rankings averaged 305.5 yards for the tournament, ranking him 19th in driving distance and 21st in accuracy.

Built for ball speed and sidespin reduction, ³the only² $1000 golf shaft, OZIK TP-7, is made with Interply Hybrid Technology. Each shaft is made from a high modulus carbon graphite base and then wrapped with two full-length layers of 118-thread count Russian Boron at competing angles for impact stability. These metallic layers are covered by ballistic, photo-sensitive Japanese Zylon for enhanced feel and tensile strength.

When asked in April about the former University of Oklahoma All-American, Matrix Shafts Tour Director Joe Miera said, ³After watching him the last few weeks, I know he will have a big win by summer, just wait and see.²

Using the Matrix OZIK XCON Altus Hybrid in his Adams utility club, the youngest rookie in 2007 did not carry any traditional fairway woods and was still highly effective on long holes. On his final par 5 Sunday, the 22-year-old hit a perfectly placed drive with his OZIK TP-7 and followed it with a sweetly struck OZIK XCON Altus Hybrid that set up an eagle putt. The highly efficient, high launch OZIK XCON Altus is one of the most used hybrid shafts on the PGA Tour, and has found its way into the hands of four of the top 16 PGA Tour players and the number one player on the European Order of Merit in 2007.
