Zach Johnson is a proven winner on the PGA Tour, and his performance at the Valero Texas Open demonstrated a trust in himself and his Titleist equipment. Relying on the Pro V1x golf ball and the new 909D2 driver, Johnson was fit for success, posting a sizzling 62-64 on the weekend for his fourth career victory. He was joined in the weekly winners' circle by fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Marc Leishman, who trusted Titleist from tee-to-green en route to his first career Nationwide Tour title and a record-tying 11-shot margin of victory. TITLEIST HIGHLIGHTS FROM WEEK ENDING OCTOBER 12, 2008 PGA TOUR: Titleist Brand Ambassador Zach Johnson posted a 19-under 261 to win the Valero Texas Open for his first win of the year and the fourth of his PGA TOUR career. Johnson followed his third round 8-under 62 performance with a final round 6-under 64 for a two-stroke victory over Pro V1 players Tim Wilkinson and Charlie Wi, and Pro V1x loyalist Mark Wilson. Jeff Overton (Pro V1x) finished solo fifth, as Titleist golf ball players occupied the top five positions on the leaderboard.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Valero Texas Open with 84 players, compared to 19 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also led in the wedge (127) and putter (53) categories, and was second in drivers (36), fairway woods (43) and irons (32). Johnson's win marks the 26th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2008 PGA TOUR, more than twice the nearest competitor with 11.
