The Spotless Swing: Just the thing to clean up your game

As a golfer, chances are good you fall somewhere between the person who pays little or no attention to the appearance or cleanliness of his clubs during the round to the one who carries a brush, water, a wet towel and dry towel to make sure his sticks remain immaculate throughout the day.

“I was looking for a one-tool solution to clean golf clubs, club grooves and also keep my hands and face clean,” said Scott Salzman, the president of BrightSpot Solutions. “Brushes are awkward and often end up getting my hands and golf glove dirty or wet. I designed Spotless Swing as a simple solution to all the problems I encountered with dirty clubs on the course.”

The towel has an interesting design. When you pick it up by its handy and sturdy carabineer, it doesn’t resemble a towel very much. It looks a lot like the head cover of a very large driver. But it’s nothing like having one of those large, white towels golfers use.

The Spotless Swing, however, does the job of three towels. The outside surface keeps your hands, face and grips clean and dry; the inside cleans clubfaces of dirt, mud and water and the “microbrush” fabric portion of the inside easily cleans grooves each time a club is used.

Now, living in the northeast U.S., my clubs have more dust on them than dirt. That’s what happens when they go unused since October. But I did do a test run on the Spotless Swing and I was impressed with how much dirt the “microbrush” dug out of the grooves. I’ll give it the dirt test as soon as the weather begins to cooperate.

A really nice aspect of this product is that carabineer, which is of much better quality than a lot of things designed to hook onto your golf bag. And if your Spotless Swing is hooked on your bag, the opening faces down. If you’re walking and have it attached to your belt, the opening faces up. Nice and convenient. The product is available in graphite black (with red trim) or classic red (with black trim).

It’s six times more absorbent than cotton (over 600 percent of its weight), is machine washable and dryable.

There are plenty of golfers who are more concerned about style – how they look, how their equipment looks – than substance. But the Spotless Swing allows for both. Will your scores automatically improve if you have one? Not likely. But what is likely is that you hit more shots crisply with a clean clubface and grooves.
