AccuFLEX Golf Rounds Out Men's Open Division Elite Long Drive Team By Signing Tom Roskos and Talaga Lesa, Two Of Long Drive's Top Young Pros Press Release
AccuFLEX Golf announced the signing of two
more open division competitors for the upcoming ReMax World Long Drive
Championships to be held in Mesquite, Nevada from October 14th through October 18th, 2003. Tom Roskos was a newcomer on the Long Drivers of America (LDA) circuit
this year and had an impressive rookie season with second place finishes at LDA
Tour events in Minnesota and California. Roskos finished the season in sixth
place on the LDA Tour Money list to qualify for both the ReMax World Long Drive
Championship in Mesquite and for the season-ending LDA Tour Championship in
Dallas, Texas. Tom Roskos will go to Mesquite hitting a 3X ASSASSIN 50" shaft in
his SMT Golf driver.
"I really had no choice but to use the AccuFLEX ASSASSIN shaft in my driver,"
Roskos stated. "I tested it against all of the other long drive shafts on the
market and I am hitting the ASSASSIN fifteen to twenty yards farther than
anything else. As a golf professional and as a competitor, I also appreciate the
fact that AccuFLEX shafts are more consistent than anything else available.
Other shafts are all over the map on my frequency monitor but the AccuFLEX
shafts are always dead on in their consistency. I wouldn't use anything else."
AccuFLEX also has signed Talaga Lesa, a 24 year old golf professional and
student at UVSC in Provo, Utah. Lesa, a native of American Samoa, qualified for
the ReMax World Championships by winning the Denver, Colorado district finals.
Lesa turned the heads of several LDA Tour veterans by hitting the longest
qualifying drive of the year at 440 yards, twelve yards ahead of his nearest
competitor. Talaga will also be hitting the 3X ASSASSIN shaft in a BANG Golf
driver. BANG Golf's Steve Almo said, "This kid can really bring it. Talaga might be
the sleeper of the tournament. Watch out for him." Watch out for Talaga's
younger brother, Sei (say-ee), in 2004. Although he did not qualify for the World
Finals this year, the word is that Sei, 23, can hit it just as far as Talaga.
"We are proud of these additions to our 2003 Elite Long Drive Team," AccuFLEX
president Jody Baucom commented. "Our team has a great mix of proven Long
Drive experience combined with a group of 'young guns' that could win on pure,
raw talent alone. The great thing about both Tom Roskos and Talaga Lesa is that
they are PGA professionals who are golfers first and long drivers second.
Having solid golf swings should help both of them hold up under the pressure of
their first world finals. Keep an eye on Tom and Talaga. Both are potential 2003
champions."
