TaylorMade Introduces rac HT Irons

TaylorMade Golf has introduced a new addition to its rac family of irons: the rac HT. The rac HT (which stands for Higher Trajectory) is engineered to deliver a higher level of performance at average clubhead speeds.
Key to the HT's performance is its exceptionally wide sole, its exceptionally thin clubface, and its reconceived Tuned Performance Cartridge, which together allowed TaylorMade engineers to reposition more of the clubhead's weight lower in the clubhead, resulting in an extremely low, deep CG (center of gravity).
Thanks to its low CG, the rac HT requires less effort to launch the ball into the air. The result is high-flying shots that stay in the air longer, equaling greater distance. An added benefit of the rac HT's wide, cambered sole is that it glides smoothly across turf, discouraging digging and promoting solid contact.
Additional rac iron models by TaylorMade include the rac OS (Oversize), rac LT (Low Trajectory), rac MB (Muscleback), as well as the rac Combo TP set, which combines five rac CB (Cavityback) irons (2-, 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-) with three rac MBs (7-, 8- and 9-) and a rac pitching wedge.
Like the rac OS and rac LT models, the rac HT incorporates a Tuned Performance Cartridge inserted into the lower rim of the cavity, and which permits TaylorMade engineers to displace weight from the sole and redistribute that weight into the club's perimeter, increasing the club's moment of inertia (MOI) for added stability and forgiveness on off-center hits. However, the rac HT's Tuned Performance Cartridge is larger than that used in the rac OS and rac LT, allowing for a displacement of 28 grams to the club's perimeter, as opposed to 21 grams for the OS. That results in a higher MOI for the rac HT, for added stability and forgiveness on mis-hits.
Also, the rac HT's Tuned Performance Cartridge is oriented differently than that used in the rac OS and rac LT; this change in orientation further contributes to the rac HT's exceedingly low CG.
The rac HT is also engineered to produce a slight, distance-enhancing draw via the combined dynamics of the CG location and shaft characteristics. Plus, lightweight graphite or steel shafts help to promote added clubhead speed, which can result in more distance.
Like the rac OS, rac LT and rac MB models, the rac HT incorporates TaylorMade's famous rac (Relative Amplitude Coefficient) technology, characterized by two distinctive "Feel Pockets" in the cavity, which exist to channel vibration at impact to strategic areas of the clubhead, resulting in a solid, powerful feel at impact that's unmatched.
"The rac HT is an important addition to our rac iron family," says Sean Toulon, Senior Vice President of Brand Management and Creation for TaylorMade, "and its creation allows us to make rac technology available to an even wider range of players."
Manufacturer's suggested retail price for a set of rac HT irons - 3-iron through PW - is $960/graphite, $736/steel.
