AccuFLEX Golf Announces That Its New "VS 339" 47-Inch Shaft For 2004 Is Available For Delivery This Month

AccuFLEX Golf announced today that it has completed the design and testing phases and has begun production of its first 2004 shaft model entry, the AccuFLEX VS 339. Designed and inspired by the longest driver ever on any PGA Tour, Victor Schwamkrug has tested prototype versions of this shaft and will use the VS 339 on Tour next year. Schwamkrug played a 47" AccuFLEX-shafted driver on the PGA Nationwide Tour in 2003 to set the record for longest driving distance average ever on any PGA Tour at an astonishing 339.3 yards. This bested his own previous year record of 328 yards and also put Victor 17.9 yards ahead of his nearest 2003 PGA Tour driving distance challenger. Company officials believe that Schwamkrug's driving distance exploits combined with the pending USGA shaft limit restrictions will inspire golfers everywhere to "push the envelope" on driver length the way they try to get the most out of a driver face's "C.O.R." measurement. The 47" AccuFLEX VS 339 will be available in flex designations of "regular" through "triple X" so that all golfers can extend their drivers to the maximum length allowed by the new USGA rules. The VS 339 is available for immediate pre-booking for delivery by Christmas.

"I am very proud to be associated with a shaft company that is as technologically advanced as AccuFLEX," Schwamkrug stated. "I am convinced that their designers and their materials and manufacturing processes are the state-of-the-art in the industry. For me to switch to AccuFLEX in mid-season last year says a lot. What impressed me first about hitting drivers with AccuFLEX shafts in them was the shaft's recovery. The shaft stayed right with me and the ball stays on a rope when I hit it. It goes exactly where I point it. The second thing that impressed me was the increase in driving distance average after the switch. In eight events without AccuFLEX, my average was 332 yards. In the ten events I played after switching to AccuFLEX, my average drive increased to 347 yards with no loss of accuracy. I can't wait to see the numbers that a full season with AccuFLEX shafts in my bag will bring."

"We are very proud of our contribution to Victor Schwamkrug's record-setting achievement out on Tour last year," AccuFLEX president Jody Baucom began. "We approached Victor with the idea of creating a 47" shaft and Victor was very clear on the fact that he wanted as many golfers as possible to experience that 'on a rope' trajectory he enjoys with our products. Our design team, in my opinion, really nailed it this time. Based on the results of extensive player testing of the VS 339 in the 'prototype' stage and on the availability of so many flex options, I know that we have created a shaft that will maximize the distance of golfers everywhere. We are also very pleased that Victor Schwamkrug will be using the VS 339 out on Tour in 2004."
