Seattle Golf Show opens Friday and Runs Through Sunday at Stadium Exhibition Center

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 2004--First-ever "golf event" in Seahawks Stadium, around-the-clock presentations and 15,000 rounds of free golf spotlighted at the Seattle Golf Show -- The first-ever golf event in Seahawks Stadium, 150 golf course and equipment exhibitors, hourly "how-to" presentations and 15,000 rounds of free golf headline the revamped Seattle Golf Show, Friday through Sunday (March 5-7) at the Stadium Exhibition Center.

The show -- the largest of its kind in the Northwest -- is taking on a new look with expanded features and added emphasis on interactive opportunities for golfers of all ages. Profits from the annual event support the promotion of golf in the Northwest through the Pacific Northwest Golf Association and the Pacific Northwest Section PGA.

Leading the list of new attractions is the first-ever "golf event" in Seahawks Stadium. Located on the football field, this hole-in-one contest allows show attendees to take a swing at a "cayman ball" (three for $5) at the 80-yard hole -- the equivalent of a 160-yard shot with a standard ball. The top ten "closest-to-the-pin" contestants over the three-day show advance to a final round on Sunday, where a hole-in-one means a new Mercedes-Benz. Proceeds from the event benefit the Seahawks Academy -- an organization that encourages achievement amongst middle-school students.

New how-to attractions include the "Clinics of Champions" featuring top Northwest pros sharing tips in an expanded gallery seating area. Presenters include Todd Erwin, four-time Washington Open champion; Cindy Macnider, named by Golf for Women magazine as one of the "Top 50 Woman Instructors," Semiahmoo pro and Nike tour player Jeff Coston and LPGA great Joanne Foreman.

For a complete schedule of presentations by golf professionals and golf industry experts, visit www.seattlegolfshow.com.

The first 5,000 adult attendees attending the show each day will receive free green fee passes from top regional courses, including Columbia Point, Richland (Friday, March 5); McCormick Woods, Port Orchard (Saturday, March 6); and Homestead Farms, Lynden (Sunday, March 7).

Major manufacturers, including Nike Golf, Ping, Titleist, Taylor Made and others, will be unveiling the latest equipment offerings for 2004. Golfers can take a swing using clubs and equipment in the extensive demo area.

Other features and attractions include "Ladies Day" on opening day (with a special $5.00 admission for adult women), free lessons from area PGA professionals and an instruction and activity area dedicated to junior golfers. Additional interactive opportunities include Golden Tee golf video games, the "Par T" indoor golf simulator, and a 50-foot putt challenge.

Semiahmoo Resort will present a new "Exhibitor's Scorecard" promotion, involving dozens of show exhibitors. Top scorers each day will receive "green fees for four" at the resort's Loomis Trail or Semiahmoo championship courses, with a grand prize of overnight accommodations and one round of golf at each course for a foursome.

The show is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, Semiahmoo Resort and The Skagit Valley Casino Resort.

Hours for the show are Friday (March 5) and Saturday (March 6), 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday (March 7) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular admission is $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors 60 and over, and $3.00 for youths seven to 17. Children under seven are admitted free with adults.

Discount coupons, valid for $2.00 off regular adult admission, are available at www.seattlegolfshow.com, participating pro shops and golf retail outlets.
