ORLANDO, Fla., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Playing captains Ernie Els and Mark O'Meara will open play when the inaugural Tavistock Cup presented by Hughes Supply, Inc., is contested Monday, March 29 and Tuesday, March 30 at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club.

In conducting the draw for the $2.5 million ($1.5 million purse, $1 million par-three prizes) team event matching international professional golf members and residents of the high-profile developments of Isleworth and Lake Nona in the Orlando, Fla., area, Els (Lake Nona) and O'Meara (Isleworth) paired themselves in the first match. Els and Sven Struver will take on O'Meara and Darren Clarke in the first of four Fourball matches.

Eight players from each team play each day, with eight points available under the first day's Fourball (better-ball) Medal Matchplay format. Under that format, the two-person team with the lowest 18-hole better-ball total wins the match.

On Tuesday, the players will go out in foursomes and play singles matches against each of the opposing two other players in their foursome. Essentially, each player plays two singles matches with 16 points up for grabs.

The first team to accumulate 12 1/2 points wins. Each player on the winning team will receive $100,000, and each player on the losing team will receive $50,000. In addition, there will be a $100,000 purse for the low individual score on Day 2: $50,000 for first place, $30,000 for second and $20,000 for third.

Entire team prizes will be awarded for spectacular individual performances on any of the four par-three holes. If a player makes a hole-in-one, the player wins the prize and for all seven of their teammates.

Hole-in-one prizes include BMWs on two of the par threes, Nautiques by Correct Craft performance boats on one par three and Harley Davidsons on the other par three.

Also, there will be a $10,000 cash award to each member of the team with the highest number of eagles throughout the two-day event and an Omega Double Eagle watch for all team members if a player scores a double eagle throughout the event.

Joining Els and Struver on the Lake Nona team are Nick Faldo, Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen, Trevor Immelman, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, and Annika Sorenstam. Struver will play Monday and Sorenstam Tuesday.

Along with Clarke, O'Meara's Isleworth team includes Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby, John Cook, Scott Hoch, Charles Howell III, Lee Janzen and Craig Parry, who will replace Cook on Tuesday.

The two-day Tavistock Cup will be televised live on The Golf Channel (1-6 p.m. ET) in the United States and Canada, and live on BSKYB's SKY SPORTS (6-11 p.m. GMT) in the United Kingdom.

It will re-air March 29-30 from 7:30-10:30 p.m. each day on The Golf Channel and again on April 1-2 from 8:30-11:30 p.m.

The Tavistock Cup is an exclusive and intimate tournament with limited galleries consisting of club members and invited guests.
