Winner and 50 percent of the field put their trust in CHAMP spikes - MARLBOROUGH, MA — At THE PLAYERS Championship, the youngest ever winner of the tournament entered the history books wearing spikes from the oldest spike manufacturer in the game: CHAMP. In fact, 10 of the 12 golfers who finished in top 10 (including ties) followed suit, as eight wore CHAMP 6mm Cer-Mec™ spikes, one wore CHAMP ScorpionSpikes™ and one wore CHAMP Stinger™ spikes.
Overall at THE PLAYERS Championship, more golfers wore CHAMP branded spikes than any other spike manufacturer. According to the Darrell Survey, 23 golfers wore CHAMP soft golf spikes, with 12 wearing CHAMP Stinger spikes and 11 wearing CHAMP ScorpionSpikes. In addition, according to CHAMP’s Tour representative, 51 golfers wore CHAMP 6mm Cer-Mec spikes, bringing CHAMP’s overall spike count at THE PLAYERS Championship to 74 or 50 percent of the field. The next closest competitor had 54 spikes in play or 36 percent of the field.
In 2003, CHAMP golf spikes visited the winner’s circle 49 times on the PGA, LPGA and Nationwide tours. CHAMP posted 21 victories on the PGA Tour, 19 on the LPGA Tour and nine on the Nationwide Tour. And of those 49 total wins, 28 were with CHAMP soft golf spikes, with CHAMP ScorpionSpikes™ leading the way with 26 of those victories.
