TaylorMade Tour Staff Professionals to Use Special Edition Staff Hats and Bags at 2004 Masters Tournament - Replica Hats Available at Retail - CARLSBAD, Calif. (April 6, 2004) -- TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals participating in this year's Masters Tournament will wear special edition hats and use special edition staff bags.

Because TaylorMade is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the bags' were designed with a retro look and feel in terms of style, color and materials; a nod to TaylorMade's original, 1979 staff bag. Additionally, bags feature the original TaylorMade logo embroidered on one side, and the current TaylorMade logo embroidered on the other side. Each side also features TaylorMade's 25th anniversary logo and a circular patch that reads "circa 1979." An additional nod to the year 1979 are the bags' large, metallic buckles, which were used on TaylorMade's 1979 staff bags.

Likewise, TaylorMade has paid homage to the tournament with two rectangular patches, one on the front of the bag and one on the back, that include the words "Season Opener" and an outline of the state of Georgia. Devised by TaylorMade, the design was inspired by the clubhouse badge used at the 1979 tournament.

"The inspiration for TaylorMade's special edition Masters bag was our original staff bag from 25 years ago," said Craig Barez, Creative Director for TaylorMade-adidas Golf. "The bags color and design, along with our "Season Opener" logo and our "circa 1979" logo, is a way for us to pay homage to both the tournament and our anniversary in a simple, respectful way."

Players that will use the bags at Augusta include defending champion Mike Weir, Darren Clarke, Sergio Garcia, K.J. Choi, Kenny Perry, Fred Funk, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, Retief Goosen, Scott Verplank, Peter Lonard, Fred Couples, and Briny Baird. Two bags have been made for each participating TaylorMade player. The player will keep the one he uses in the tournament, and will autograph the second bag. The autographed bags have been pre-sold to a private collector; the proceeds will be donated to The First Tee Program.

In addition, TaylorMade has created a special edition cap for TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals to wear during this year's Masters competition. These hats come in two colors, stone and green, and feature on the back a smaller version of the "Season Opener" patch included on the special edition bags.

On the first and second days of the tournament TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals will wear special edition hats featuring TaylorMade's 1979 logo on the front; on the third and fourth days they will wear special edition hats featuring TaylorMade's current logo on the front.

Replica special edition hats featuring TaylorMade's 1979 logo on the front and the Season Opener patch on the back are currently available for sale to the public in limited quantities through TaylorMade's retail partners.
