When purchasing a golf bag there are some key questions that I have to ask myself: Does it look decent? Is it lightweight? Is it strong enough to withstand being kicked and/or whacked with a wedge four or five times a round? How many cans of beer does it hold? Pertinent questions that need to be addressed when buying a quiver.
Recently, I asked those questions of the Callaway Daytripper Light Stand Bag – the slightly smaller, lighter version of the popular Daytripper bag. I’ll be honest, the previous Callaway bag I owned let me down a bit (the Ion Stand Bag, which is still offered). I found the Ion to be rather bulky (for carrying) with too-tight compartments that didn’t seem to hold enough clothing. Not that I expect the thing to comfortably store my entire collection of Sansabelt pants and hard-collared shirts, but it’s nice to have enough space for the rainwear and an extra sweater (or a box of beer). At any rate, the Ion didn’t do it for me. But this story isn’t about the Ion. It’s about the Daytripper Light and its ability to withstand abuse and store beverages.
The Daytripper Light is light (3.5 lbs.) and it does have great storage capacity. Its other delightful features are: easily accessible and insulated beverage pouch, six compartments, including a fairly spacious clothing/beer compartment, and it comes in three smart-looking colour options – black/moss, black, and graphite/blue.
The question then? Is this the bag of my dreams? Can I accomplish all I’ve ever aspired to if I pack around this bag? So far so good. However, I have yet to whack it with my wedge - so the final verdict is still to come. www.callawaygolf.com
