I just got an email from TaylorMade about their new Project A golf ball so I went to their site to check it out. While I was there I also looked at the new M4 irons. If you look at the specs for these irons, you might notice that they have Very Strong Lofts to them The has only 25* of loft, which is way low. My current 6 iron has 32* of loft. 7 more than this new M4 iron. The 8 iron in this set has 33*, or one more than my 6 iron. No wonder the reports are saying they hit these new irons a lot farther then what they have been hitting their own irons. Truth is the M4 6 iron is more like my 4 iron than the 6 iron in my bag. I remember hitting the Burner 2.0 6 iron when it came out a few years ago. I hit it a good 20 yards longer than my 6 iron due to it having 27* of loft compared to 32* for my iron. And the launch angle was about 5 degrees lower and I was getting a lot of run-out on the shots. Again more like a 4 iron then a true 6 iron. While I'm sure some golfers will fall for the longer distance trick, but I'd rather have a set of irons that hit the ball a lot higher than what these new toys do.
