Same here...my last day in

Same here...my last day in the office was 3/13 so I've been home for a month. The last interaction we had with anyone outside the house was Saturday 3/14, we went to a friend's house for dinner (they were already somewhat infection conscious). Michael is going to the supermarket for me once a week (fabric mask/gloves). Have tried to get some things delivered but grocery delivery is next to impossible. I've only been able to get a few "dry goods" types of items via Staples or Target. Cat food via Amazon. Our company is still in business, our installers have some construction sites that are allowed to remain open so we have limited work. Our Operations Mgr goes in to the office a couple of times a week (mail, bills, receive shipments), but nobody else is allowed in.

Wife is working from home

My wife had the last two weeks of March off and then the company closed the office when she was due to go back to work. Instead of going to work, she went in and picked up her computer and twin monitor set-up and she has been working from home since the first of April. The other day she got an email saying the company would not open the office until at LEAST the second week of Augest at the earliest. Kind of nice to haave her home all day and for her not to have to drive to work all week. Saving lots of money of GAS for the car as well. I got an early start on my garden this year with LOTS of nice big tomatoe plants for a summer of red and yellow fruit this year. Got some flowers on a few plants at the end of April, so should have tomatoes to pick way early this year. I'm hoping for mid June or earlier for the first ripe cherry tomatoes. Been reading a lot of E- Books since we can't go to the liberary to get real books these days. Been watching some movies on DVD that my wife has been stocking up on every year for Christmas for about 8 years now. Watched Flash Dance and Coyote Ugly and Sneakers over the weekend

Might have to set up my driving net in the back yard again soon to work off the RUST with ZERO range time for the last few months. Some of the local golf courses are back open again so I might see if I can get out and hit a bucket of balls sometime soon. Assuming I remember HOW to swing a club. Might be ugly but it should be fun at least.

here in NJ

Our company actually "re-opened" our two offices this Monday. With the caveat that if you feel like you want to keep working at home and can do so, you can continue. Our main office has people in much tighter proximity so they are going to have to work on alternating days to keep the spacing appropriate. Mandatory masks when in the office. My office is better in that there are only two areas where people sit in shared spaces/close together (most of us have a private office). Couple of those people have childcare issues so they have to work from home anyhow. I plan to go in once a week.

The only COVID project I tackled was I made bagels...with all of the extra time for cooking (so much cooking...I'm sick of it) I made a batch of whole wheat bagels and they were pretty good. Probably will make more this weekend (it takes two days since you let the dough rest overnight)...it is actually very easy. Resisting the urge to make sweets like brownies, etc. No COVID 19 (lbs) in this house!

Since the gym closed in March and the golf courses had been closed until a couple of weeks ago, Michael and I have been taking long, brisk walks around the neighborhood for exercise. Probably doing around 10 miles a week, if weather allows.

Working from home until Jan at least.

My wife has been home since mid March and now she recently got told the company would be having all that can work from home to stay home and work from there until at least the beginning of 2021. Come January they will figure out the next move. So far it's going okay but we need to set up a better place for my wife to work from at home. Ske needs a full time office setup so she can work comfortablly and have everything she needs all in one place to make things as easy as possible for her. This is kind of like a dry run for when she retires and will be home all the time for then on. So far so good as she has NOT tried to kill me or call a divorce lawyer to get free of me. So that's a plus. She's been putting up with me full time for 4 months now with 6 more at least to come. If we make it thru to Jan I guess we will be fine for after she retires and has to live with me full time all the time. GOOD THING I MARRIED A KEEPER  23 years ago.

working from home

My previous job was with an employer in another state, so I had worked from home for 15 years. Although I was going out on the road to visit clients, so it wasn't like being confined to home. But having a comfortable and proper home office set up is necessary to be productive. Plus, if you sit for long periods of time in non-ergonomic positions, you'll have physical issues (and you don't want to be going to get a massage at this time). Good for you and your wife, Don. I think a lot of couples were wondering if they were going to murder each other (I know I did) and it turned out to be OK. And I also got a way early taste of retirement life.

1/2 a Million dead?

recently we hit 160,000 dead in USA. Last estimate is for 300,000 by end of the year. My guess is for more like 500,000 by end of year. The reason I'm going with 1/2 a million dead is because of how STUPID people in this country are about NOT wearing a face mask and their lack of staying 6 or more feet apart when they are out in public. Thousands of dumb idiots are going out drinking and playing at the beach when they should be staying home and away from others. We have been living and dieing with this covid 19 crap since Janurary and we are seeing all time highs in new cases all over the country. Mainly due to so many people being so stupid about going out and not wearing a mask when they do. Not sure what it will take to get the message to sick in with some people.

finally

Well, almost a year after it started...Michael and I have appointments for our first vaccine shots. That's a relief, knowing that at least I won't get so sick I wind up in the hospital.

Vaccine #1 in the books. Arm sore for 2 days (like a muscle bruise) but no other problems.

same there Aimee, a little

same there Aimee, a little sore where the shot went in, but NO other problems, I get my second shot next Monday, March 8th just before noon. Then two weeks for it to take full effect and I should be good intil they decide everyone needs a bouster shot down the road. Colorado has just opened it up for those over 60 to get a shot, so now my wife can see about getting in line for her shot. Will be nice to have both of use vacinated and safer when we go out to shop.

shot

I wound up getting a large itchy rash on my shoulder from the shot, it showed up a week after and lasted for a week. Getting shot #2 this coming Friday in the morning, so if I don't feel well, I have the whole weekend to rest. My parents had no ill effects after their second shots.

2nd shot

I had gotten the Moderna vax, after my 2nd shot I had flu-like symptoms that kicked in 8-9 hours after. It is 24 hours since my shot and I still don't feel great, but for sure better than last night, and my arm is only a little sore. When I was talking to the Nurse she said she had a lot of people saying they had that itchy rash after a week, it turned out to be a more common side effect than the initial testing had shown. Michael is getting his 2nd shot right now, so I expect him to be miserable tonight.
