Costco back in the ball Business

I just read an aerticale saying Costco has started selling the new 4 piece tour ball again. And like the first time around, they had SOLD OUT before most golfers knew they were back. The new ball is being maide in China this time and not Korea like the first ball. From what I read, they are supposed to be back in stock mid oct. Same low price of $30. for TWO dozen balls. Question will be are they as good as the first time around. Those balls were said to be VERY good according to most of the reviews I read. The worse reviews on that ball said they were about 90 % as good as the top line Tour balls, so that's pretty good for a BAD review for a ball that costs $15 a dozen and not $50 plus for the ProV1 balls.

Hey Don

Hey Don

I was able to get 1 pack of 2 dozen of the new 4 piece balls.   I sent the email to some friends who by the time they tried to order, got the out of stock email.   Now I never played the original 4 piece ball which lead to the lawsuit.   but I'm hoping to play these and compare them to ProV1's,...and see how they do.  I also bought a 24 pack of the 3 piece cheap balls from Kirkland to use on my golf trip...since I don't care to loose $4 golf balls.

But at $30 for 24 tour quality golf balls, I hope the new 4 piece perform well.

Let me know what you think of

Let me know what you think of them when you get a chance to try them out and have time to report on them. For the low price they should be worth a trail at least. Good luck with the trail and have fun on your trip.

refund

Get a refund on those 4-piece balls, Scott. I've seen multiple posts that they are defective. The covers crack after minimal use.

It's not how...it's how many

Aimee, they credited the

Aimee, they credited the refund while i was on my trip.  I didn't even have to ask, Costco just refunded everyone's purchase who made one.  I haven't used them yet but the 3piece balls are fine durability wise.  Surprised by the cracking but Costco sticks behind their stuff and so I got a free 24 golf balls.

That was extremely nice of Costco to refund the money before you even asked them to. Now I have to wonder how long before they get the problem corrected with the new balls and have a new version back on the shelves.  My guess would be that they are back in stock before the Christmas shopping season gets here.

Used one of my (free) Costco

Used one of my (free) Costco 4 piece balls Monday when I walked about 8 holes.  After about 7 holes hitting it off the tee and with irons, I noticed a big scuff mark clearly from one of my irons that was pretty severe.  The ball never hit a tree or the cart path...just got cut/scuffed from shots with the grooved irons.  Not surprised people complained.  hard to believe that wasn't found in testing.

Other than that the ball seemed fine.  Good distance...good soft feel.

While that is NOT great for a

While that is NOT great for a golf ball, it's hard to complain about getting more than 6 holes out of a Tour ball before it got scuffed up. I've had scuff morks on the ProV1 balls in less than that many holes, so for the price it's hard to complain too much. Let's just hope they get it works out soon and have a new improveld version back for sake before too long. A slightly larger core and a little thinner cover should get them back in business.

Well see the pic below.  That

Well see the pic below.  That's more than any normal wear I've had with a ProV1 after only 6 or 7 holes without hitting something hard at impact.

Thanks for the photo Scott. I

Thanks for the photo Scott. I nave to agree, tha'ts a pretty bad looking scuff mark on the ball, more than I have gotten with a ProV1 ball that I can remember. Hopefully Costco can get the problem figured out and have a much better ball back on the shelves before too long.

Yeah...I hope so too.  The 3

Yeah...I hope so too.  The 3 piece ball doesn't have this issue at all.  So in theory they have something to work from...

That's a very good point

That's a very good point Scott. I hope it carries over two making a good 4 piece ball soon.
