So about a month ago my Dad mentioned to me he saw a commercial or golf show and they were talking about a new golf ball on the market that some of the pro's were trying or switching too, the Kick X Tour golf ball. He thought a lot of senior tour players were trying it but I'm not sure if that was just part of the commercial or what. Anyway, it's a 3 piece ball with a different take on the alignment lines, more looks like how the lanes on a road are designed.
Anyway, i looked for them in stores just to read about them but our store didn't carry them. Then he called me and said he had gone to their website and you could get a free trial. So he did that, paid the $0.99 cents for shipping and called me today and they were here and he got a whole dozen of the golf balls for that price, not just a sleeve . Then he said something that confused me a little, that if you liked them you could buy more for $39.95 instead of the normal rack price of $44.95. Now, why I thought, was that important. So when I visited the site, and read the fine print, what you do as you buy them for $1 is you're agreeing to enroll in an automatic subscription program where every 30 days you get another dozen golf balls. You have to call and cancel if you don't want the renewals.
Now to me, that's just a bait and switch because who the heck would buy a dozen tour balls every month? They are banking on the fact that people, like my dad, won't notice that detail and will just start racking up monthly renewal fees. This lower's the companies reputation in my book. Lucky for my dad that I read this and saved him from another $39 charge next month for golf balls he doesn't need.
Their website for purchase with that "free deal" is http://www.shopmaxtv.com/kickxtourz/?sid=103190
