New (used) Driver...

Well, I pulled the trigger on a new used driver today.  My current driver, the Cobra Amp Cell I bought "new" after it was phased out...so I'm 3 generation behind now.  Well Globalgolf has some very good conditioned used Bio Cell +, 2 models ahead of what mine is, for $100.  So i took the plunge.  I debated trying a Callaway Big Bertha, one of the new ones but not the Alpha.  But I sort of figured since it was 50% more, I doubted I'd get 50% more performance so I went with the Cobra.  I read reviews of both and both were really good.  Actually it all started because I could get a Taylormade SLDR for abotu $110 but as I kept reading, more and more I kept getting tempted to try the 'new' Cobra.  So we'll see.  Should be here by the weekend if I'm lucky.  I like my current Amp Cell and everything I read says the Bio Cell+ is even more forgiving and longer, but I guess we'll see.   So far this year I think I've replaced everything in my bag except my hybrids (and that was what i REALLY was looking to upgrading!!!!!) and my putter (WILL NEVER REPLACE!!).

And so far I've spent more on the wedges, new Titleists , than I did anything else.  The driver, $100, used Wilson Ci11 irons cost me $125, the Cleveland 588 fairway woods cost me $140, and the 2 wedges cost me $200! So i have a little under $500 in pretty much a new set of clubs, just most of them happen to be a year or so old.  But still rock solid.   I am selling some old stuff on Ebay to offset some of the costs.     Next will be testing out a new hybrid.  I just don't know if my old Cobra's are so old I'm giving up forgiveness if I keep playing them or not.

New (used) hybrid worth trying

If you get the chance, you might want to try hitting a Ping Rapture Hybrid since you're looking to replace your current hybrid. I had NEVER fould a hybrid that I hit well enough to even think of buying one until I did a demo with the Rapture 3 hybrid. Since I got my Ping I've let half a dozen golfers try it at the range, and everyone of them liked it a lot. One guy said it pretty much "hit  the ball by itself"  I know they can be found on E-bay for a decent price, but not sure if you can find a used one at a local golf shop or not. Might try Goolfsmith and Golf Galaxy if you are in the neighorhood of one ot them.

Thanks Don.  I hit some Pings

Thanks Don.  I hit some Pings earlier this year but I don't know if it was Rapture or not.  I'll have to look and see what they have locally and see if I can hit it...

As I recall, the Rapture

As I recall, the Rapture hybrid come with two options for the shaft. The 3h I have has the JAVLN FX shaft  Mh7 in S flex.I don't know what the difference is between this shaft and the other option, but I LIKE my Ping with the shaft I got, so I can recommend it as being good. The other option might be as good or even better, but I just don't know, so I can't recommend it not having tried it.
