US Women's Open at Pine Needles

Pine Needles is less than 2 hours from me, and a course I played 2 times I think.   Went down Saturday and followed Lee and Harigea for the afternoon.   I love watching the Women's events, far less crowds,  which is somewhat unfortunate given the quality of golf product.  But the leaders had a small following but Korda and Lexi had the bigger crowds filloinging them. But I was really impressed watching the leaders .. fairways and greens.   I think each missed 1 fairway on the front 9.  both still managed par.   I think the only bogey I saw was a 3 putt by Lee.  Harigea was throwing some darts in there but Lee got hot after the turn and birdied 3 straight.   Fun day..weather was perfect!  After a week of 95s and some heavy rains...it was low humidity, light wind , sunny and 81.   Going to watch the finals today from home though.

NIce! We have the LPGA in NJ

NIce! We have the LPGA in NJ a couple of times over the summer some years, they are always here for the Shop Rite Classic at Seaview, which is towards the coast and can get incredibly windy...or buggy. That's the tradeoff - if windy, it keeps the skeeters and such away, if not windy, you get bit to death. There's always a way to get free tickets from Shop Rite (our local supermarket), so if we want to make the trek next weekend we can. They played in Northern NJ earlier in May at Upper Montclair CC - we had been to that venue several years ago and it was nice.

So what do you think about

So what do you think about the LIV (54) tour Aimee?   I actually feel like the PGA is getting a little controlling...yeah they keep finding ways to give players more money but at what cost?  seems like they set all the rules.  The players are "independent contractors" until the Tour doesn't want them playing some where else.  I recall when Rory and other's were Euro tour members and the PGA was happy to let them play here when they wanted too.  And the various LPGA players that they let play on the PGA tour..as professionals.   but now, they suspend 17 players for wanting to play other events that aren't PGA?    Seems a little monopoly-ish to me.

I have mixed feelings about

I have mixed feelings about LIV, on principle it feels like they are using it to whitewash their image, I feel like the money is tainted. But I believe as far as being a PGA member, there are probably agreements in place that stipulate participation in Tour events (ie, not non-sanctioned ones). Seems like there is a history and as a player you should buy in to that. If you want to be a mercenary, quit all memberships and chase the money.

It's interesting ... I see a

It's interesting ... I see a lot of folks are really talking about that issue of how could they play when this is funded by the Saudie Public Investment Fund.   But I haven't heard anyone saying boycot Starbucks (PIF has a huge investment there) or BP or Citigroup or Facebook, Marriot, or Disney.  The PIF has money everywhere these days.      But I'm sure when the players sign on for the Tour card they committee to a lot of stuff.   Seems like though in the past, if players wanted to play in Saudie or Dubia, they could and those aren't PGA Tour events.  But I guess the PGA has the ultimate say so of when they let players do that or not.
