Simply a wonderful course, best I have ever played. There we go - simple review.
Now into the nitty gritty. Played here in a typical English Indian summer, weather was blue skys, nice temp and a bit of breeze.
Best holes are the 3rd, 5th,10th, 11th, 12th, 17th and 18th.
The 3rd is a short par 4 with a very very very narrow landing ground with a ravine on the right.
The 5th is a left turn hole with a carry of 160 yrds over water (shame I hit the first 3 balls straight into the water)
Then we come to the amen corner of the course.
The 10th is a lovely straight hole from an elevated tee, which requires a tight shot into a small green protected by a water hazard (be as left as possible to give you a shot in)
The 11th is a copy of augustus 13th, a short par 3 into a extremely protected green.
The 12th is (I think) the best looking hole, a par 5 with pines on the left, water running down the right and the fairway sloping gently from left to right. I could have stayed on the tee box for hours, but had to top my driver down the fairway. The green is protected by a stream just in front so the long hitters would have to hit a very soft shot to get on in 2 (rather than the 7 I did it in!)
The final 2 holes, if you did them in bogey or better then my hat off to you - as they are extremely hard.
The course is a very hard test of your game, but fair. The puts run true and the fairways, if hit straight, will bounce your ball forwards miles.
Cant wait to go back (and I believe that is the highest praise you can give any course)
