Bolder Creek Golf Country Club is a beautiful 4,396 yard course that is a par 67. It was designed by Jack Fleming and opened in 1961. It is a course with mature trees but is always well maintained. The course winds through the woods just below Big Sur State Park. Although the course is short it still offers challenges on several of the holes. The rating is 60.9 and the slope is 105.
The first hole is a short par 4, 225 yards up hill to a green that is nestled at the end of a narrow fairway that is lined with Redwood and Pine trees that will reach out and grab any ball coming in close proximity. The green can definitely be reached in one but requires a good shot or there will be penalties. It is a tricky hole that can be very rewarding or very humbling depending on your aim. The tenth hole is another one that can get you it is 185 yard par three with water guarding a sloping green that is up hill so if you are short you are in the water long and you are in long rough coming down hill to a downward sloping green. The twelfth hole is a short par 5 that uses the natural dog leg around trees to make it play longer and has a well protected elevated green that can catch you off guard. The course is short but fun and does require some course management. It gives the low handicapper an opportunity to shoot an under par round.
There are plenty of incentives to bring you to this great weekend getaway. Register on line and get a free round with cart on your birthday. Or join the masters club and get a four dollar discount any day you play. There are many discounts to be had on line by checking the website.
One if the best things about this course it is situated outside of town in the woods and is a full service resort that is very affordable. There are one and two bedroom villas situated all around the course available for rent at decent prices. The grounds have several pools so that no matter where you are staying you will not have to go far to take a swim. There are four lighted tennis courts and a lot of activities to keep you busy. You can cook your own meal in your villa or enjoy a nice home cooked style meal at Ironwoods restaurant. This is a great destination vacation spot for a family or a couple that wants to get away for a weekend of golf and relaxation. I highly recommend this resort for quality, service, and value.
