Very nice course. Very challenging course.
So for about $50 during the week, a little more on the weekend) you can play a well manicured, well maintained, very challenging course, aptly named the Neuse, because you can hang yourself easily if you're not careful.
The fairways are quite challenging as the holes are mowed such that the landing areas narrow at key points. So miss the fairway and you're in pretty well grown rough. There's a decent amount of OB as well to suck up those wayward drives. many of the greens are elevated and not many are flat. You'll run into lots of subtle breaks. And there's sand and water that come into play as well. Playing 7000+ yards from the tips, it can be a very challenging course.
They have a grill, driving range, putting green and a proshop for any last second purchases.
It's a little out of the way in Clayton NC, but it's worth the drive. Definitely recommend it.
