Fees and costs: $44 weekdays, $52 weekends. Golfer history: Been playing golf about 30 years, mid-teens handicap. Not playing enough is my biggest handicap. Pros: Well-maintained semi-private layout. Typical western Pennsylvania course, plenty of elevation change, which makes you play all kinds of shots. A major bunker renovation has taken place and they are a definite upgrade. Tree-lined fairways make it a very scenic place. Cons: That same up-and-down feel can be viewed as a negative. Worth it? Absolutely. Very reasonably priced in this market. A country club feel, lots of ameneties. 19th hole: A state-of-the-art clubhouse includes Jake's on the Green, a full-scale dining facility that not only has standard golf course fare, but handles catering and weddings. Summary: Formerly known as Deer Run Golf Course, it's been taken to another level by new ownership. Fun to play with a country club feel. Pretty hard to beat.

In reading Mike D's review, he is NOT talking about Pittsburgh North Golf Course, he is talking about Pittsburgh National Golf Course, which was Deer Run. Pittsburgh North Golf Course's clubhouse is not where near as nice and either is the course.

I have played a lot of courses in the area over the years and I must say that Pittsburgh North does make you scratch your head. The lady in the proshop has no personality and all attitude. When purchasing my refreshments, the tattoo's on the bar maid were interesting, yo! The course is challenging, but cart paths and bunkers need repair. Greens were fair. Don't think I would go back, I want to enjoy my round of golf, not feel like I took a trip to the zoo!
