On 2003-12-30, Ordie rated this Callaway Tour a 5...(2625)

Purchase: Having heard great reviews from the pros already using these on tour I was anxious to get hold of some. I finally managed to get my hands on a dozen to try out. They are due for general release in January - but I'm not sure what they will retail for.
Pros: The Tour goes like a rocket. They are extremely long with a very pleasing flight - slightly flatter and more piercing than the Pro VI I usually use. It is also an extremely good ball in the wind - does not seem to balloon or get knocked off line at all. The Tour has a high spin rate and it is easy to get action on approach shots. But it doesn't spin quite as much as the Pro VI - more like the Pro VI* The feel off the putter is quite firm and it took a few holes to get used to it on the greens. But despite the firmness it does not bounce off the putter face. I still prefer the feel of the Pro VI, but the extra yards I hit the Tour means I am unlikely to change back!
Cons: The ball is quite robust, but the cover does tend to scuff up off the wedges. But they are more robust than both Pro VIs and the Hogan ball.
Quality: Nice design, quality appearance and finish. I've yet to find a blemish on the ones I have played.

Review Summary: A quality ball with excellent flight characteristics, plenty of spin and amazing distance. To my mind the best ball Callaway have ever produced - by a long margin.
