Details: Cleveland HiBore, the original model, not the XL or XLS.
Has a Green Aldila NV shaft, stiff flex, and loft of driver is 9.5*.
Purchase: Purchased from RockBottomGolf.com awhile back for about a hundred ten bucks, plus shipping. Pros: It's forgiving, with a nice penetrating trajectory, even with that scooped out look on top of clubhead. Cons: New models look larger, and their price has dropped considerably since I purchased this model. Quality: Excellent. Review Summary: A very fine driver, and the price couldn't be beat for a top of the line driver, even if it's a model that is a few years old now.

Details: Aldila NV65 Stiff
Purchase: I paid $120 dollars used on Ebay. Pros: I liked the distance which was about the same as my 983E with the same shaft. I also like the bigger sweet spot which allowed me to swing harder and actually probably drove it a couple of yards past my average titleist drive. I was also able to try out the 2007 Hibore XL along side my regular Hibore. No real difference that I could tell.
The real difference between this club and other clubs I have hit is the flight pattern. It gets up immediately and carries forever.
By the way the concave top had no effect on me, in fact I like it. This is a very easy club to hit. Cons: The sound still kind of bothers me and frankly draws a little too much attention from nearby players. I would also like to see it made with less draw built in. Quality: The construction and quality are excellent. Review Summary: The hibore on ebay is a steal, don't pass it up. The XL is basically the same club. Details: 10.5 Stiff w/Stock Shaft
Purchase: $159.00 including shipping on eBay. Bought it to replace an older Taylormade. Used a demo on local course and was sold on it. Pros: High quality, easy to hit. This is a 'swing away' club. Tee the ball a little lower and then relax and swing for the fence. The club is so forgiving there isn't a bad shot that is possible. The non-glare paint is also nice to help you stay focussed on the shot at hand. And the sound at impact is amazing. Lastly the head cover is the best any club comes with. Cons: Takes a little getting used to because of the shape of the head. But once you hit a couple of shots with it you won't miss the club it replaced. Quality: Extremely high quality construction typical of Cleveland. The stock shaft is also high quality. Review Summary: The price has dropped on last year's tech but this is still state-of-the-art. Definitely worth testing one out and then look for bargains on ebay for it. None are more than $180 now brand new from veteran and trusted golf sellers. I got mine for $159 brand new including shipping and it was exactly what I was looking for once I tested this driver out. On 2006-05-11, Big Bore rated this Cleveland HiBore a 5...(6911)
Details: Regular, 10.5 degree
Purchase: I bought the Cleveland Hi-Bore from a small local dealer. Paid $399, very soon after product was released. Pros: I like the shape of the head, the matte finish, and the large face. The home town dealer permits sign out of demo clubs and I tried this driver alongside the Cleveland Comp 460, Cobra M speed, Cobra F speed, Titleist Pro 905R, and my old Wilson Big Red 365cc. Only the Clevelands hit as far as the Wilson, and occasionally farther. The biggest improvement with the Hi-bore was fewer mis-hits, straighter shots, and more consistent distance. The shot cluster was much tighter with the Hi-bore. I could also work the ball left or right. With the Wilson and the others it was straight or fade--never left. The Hi-bore also tends to get the ball up higher, which works well for me as I tend to drill my shots low. I like the Cleveland Comp 460 also. I had my longest drives with that club, but higher variability.
I could not control the Cobras at all, but I have played with people who use them with great success and detest the clubs I like. Cons: The HiBore gets the ball up in the air. In a head wind it can balloon and is harder than most to keep down. Quality: Very solid contruction. Review Summary: I have had more solid, controlled shots with this club than with other drivers, so I really like it. I have trouble consistently making contact with the ball in a small sweet spot, so the large, lively face suits me. The big fat drivers just don't inspire confidence for me--I feel like I am swinging a grapefruit on a stick. This club seems more compact, but the big face covers my erratic swing. When hit on the button, the ball will really go, but when not, it still goes pretty well. On 2006-05-08, cant-buy-a-birdie rated this Cleveland HiBore a 3...(6897)
Details: got 8.5 degree with aldila nv65 low launch shaft!
Purchase: I was looking for a driver to increase distance from my king cobra 427ss 7.5 degree driver so I heard about this so I tried this club do to hitting it better than any driver in golfsmith! Took it out to a course and it was windy! First couple of drives with the wind behind me was beautiful but the same distance as the cobra! turning into the wind the cleveland looked like a pitching wedge! If you have to use a 7.5 degree driver or a 8.5 degree driver do not by this club it hits like it is a 9.5 0r maybe a 10 degree driver! Pros: I love the look and the shafts that come stock on them! I can see why they put the shafts on there though for that price! Cons: the price and the way it hits! hard to keep ball under the wind! Quality: great except the first hit i hit was right on the screws and it put a pretty deep scratch on the club face! i know it was not the golf ball because it was a soft pinnacle was what i was using do not know how long the club face would have lasted when i started using the nike ones a little firmer ball on it! Review Summary: Too much! if you want that much trajectory or launch just by a cheap wilson oversized 3 wood and put an expensive shaft on it! i will rate this a 3 because this is do to my swing probably the launch and everything! do not buy it unless you hit one outside! Good luck if you do! On 2006-04-24, onintwo rated this Cleveland Hibore a 4...(6839)
Details: 9.5 loft with stock Fujikura stiff flex shaft, Winn harmony grip
Purchase: I tried it at a Demo day I hit every Driver out there it was a huge show and this was by far the best feel, sound, trajectory and distance of any other driver I own and trust me I own a lot. I went that night and found one on Ebay for $385 shipped Pros: I love the sound the feel and the trajectory
and the distance , I also like the dull non glare finish . This club has the best into the wind distance of of any driver I have hit Cons: I don't like the Lame off the shelf grip, I changed it to a Winn harmony first thing. Quality: this is a top manufacturer and the quality is matched only by the other big names Review Summary: I have many many drivers, Taylor R7tp, Mizuno Mp-001, Nike Sasquach, Nike Ignite the list goes on and honestly if I had a match on a coarse that I had to be as long and as straight as I could within myself I would pick this Hibore only giving second thought to the R7. Details: 10.5* Proforce V2 Stiff
Purchase: Bought this driver at Carolina Custom Golf. $399.00 new. Demo'd almost every club on the market. Hibore with Proforce V2 shaft produced the best results. (Launch angle, spin rate and distance) Pros: In one word this club is AWESOME! Launch's the ball high and loooong. Great stock shaft options, without paying a custom charge. I have hit every driver on the market and none fly as true and long as the Hibore. Excellent feel and sound at impact. Some of today's driver hit well but sound terrible, like Callaway's FT-3. Other companies use composite top technology to move weight lower which produces a dead sound at impact. Hibore simply removed the top which keeps a solid feel and sound at impact. Removing the top also lowers the center of gravity to the middle of the club face which produces a larger sweet spot and superior length off the tee. Great job Cleveland! Believe it or not I'm not a Cleveland fan. I'm a Mizuno man, but Cleveland won me over with this driver. Cons: Nothing to dislike. Some people don't like the shape. Hit it and you'll get used to it. Quality: A1 construction and quality. Review Summary: AWESOME! Give it a try. Don't let your ego get the best of you, try more loft if needed. Details: This club comes with a awsome stock shaft, which really gets the ball up in the air nicley. Also, the clubs paint is flat ( not shiny) so if there are any scratches, they are hardly noticable. 9.5 S flex.
Purchase: I paid $369.99 at a local golf shop. I demoed the Taylormade r7 460 and the Cleveland HiBore. I spent quite a while hitting these two clubs. Both hit extremely well, but the HiBore hit about 5 yards longer. Pros: TRUST ME, the shape is hardly noticable, in fact the more you play with it the harder it is to hit traditional shaped woods. You will honestly be amazed at how much better you hit the ball. Before demoing these two clubs, Cleveland brand was one of my least favorite. Within about a half an hour of demoing, they got my complete respect. Cons: Sometimes the ball is shaped to dramaticly. Quality: The head cover that comes with the club is great, it has a 'EZ GRAB' handle which allows you to pull the club off easily. Review Summary: Bottom Line: Before you buy the r7 or any other club, at least give the HiBore a chance. On 2006-04-06, I like the golf. rated this Cleveland HiBore a 5...(6774)
Details: 10.5*, Fujikura stiff. RH.
Purchase: Purchased from a proshop at a demo day, $399.95. Hit it a few times with some of the various shaft options (Proforce V2, Graffaloy prolaunch, etc....) and really like the feel of the stock shaft the best. It is a very natural feeling shaft with its lower kickpoint. Pros: I was playing with a Cleveland Launcher 400 (9.5*) with a Harrison pro 2.5 ultralite shaft trimmed to 44.5'. It was a great club, pretty accurate, and long enough when you hit dead center- certainly a great club for its time. Bought the hibore, and now a mishit shot goes as far as my most well struck drives w/ the launcher, and my best drives are 30-40 yards longer. Drove a few par 4's yesterday, even overshot one. If you hit it with a square clubface, the ball will go far- just watch out for an open or shut face, it works the ball dramatically. And the wind seems to effect ball flight more. AWESOME club though. Cons: It comes with a handsome price- $399 list. Also, the head cover is a bit of a monstrosity, but most headcovers are. Quality: Excellent quality and contruction. It will be in my bag for quite a while. Review Summary: Best driver I have ever swung (compared to R7, Sasquatch, Launcher 460ti, launcher 460 comp, R5, Cobra F-speed). It took me a bit of time to adjust to a different length, flex and bendpoint shaft, but certainly an improvement.
