On 2006-11-01, Club Finatic rated this Acer 905 XP SS a 5...(7498)

Details: The fairway woods are 15 and 18 degree. They 3 wood is 165cc and the 5 wood is 145cc. I like the smaller head size. They have a nice cambered sole. I've tried many others where the sole didn't have much camber, curve, to it and I couldn't play them well from tight lies. I shafted them with the new UST V2 shaft in R flex and tipped 1/2'. They have a solid feel and really look top notch. The trajectory is penetrating. Better than any fairway wood I've tried.

Purchase: I bought these at Golfmole.com for the incredible price of $10.50 for the heads and $64.50 for the shaft. I use Golf Pride Multi-compound grips with 2 layers of tape. Total cost for each club was $81.50.
Pros: They have a medium face height. I don't think the taller faces are very good from the fairway or tight lies. Thre isn't anything to not like. I sold my Calloway X, my Launcher Ti, and my NVG. This combo blows these away. Could have saved myself $550 by getting these first.
Cons: Nothing not to like. Have played these for a month and the paint may chip a bit easy. For the money I saved I can repaint these whith quality paint once they need it.
Quality: When I first starte playing my first 2 sets were Acer. I've only had one club malfunction. My original 3 wood cracked, but never played any differently. The construction looks great. They feel very solid. There is no 'tink' when you hit these. They are 17-4 stainless steel and really are beautiful.

Review Summary: I can't believe I let myself fall prey to thinking OEM clubs are better. They are not! Shaft is everything and these heads will preform to the standars of any club on the market for hundreds less. It's not about the savings for me. I play these because they work for me. I have played and would pay any price for the clubs to better my game. If you are looking for a fairway wood that works in all situations, tee, fairway, rough, and tight lies. You owe it to yourself to try these.
