On 2004-09-01, Bill Nugent rated this Adams Redline 460 cc. 10 degree a 4...(4248)

Purchase: Purchased from Austad's for $159.00 with free shipping. I wanted to try a mid 400 cc. driver. I read the reviews on this site, and was pursuaded to give the Redline a try. For the previous four years I played with a 330 cc. Integra IV 10.5 degree driver with a UST Proforce 65 regular shaft. I built the club from components. The Integra IV head is a Ping ISI clone. That driver served me well, but I began experiencing erratic drives early this year, and decided to try a larger head. When I first brought out my old driver in 2000, my friends described it as a "Volkswagen on a stick". By this year, however, it had become a pipsqueak among giants, and I figured a larger sweet spot had to translate into better accuracy off the tee.
Pros: This club really flies! With my Integra I averaged from 245 - 250 yards off the tee. My driver swing speed is 90 m.p.h. With the Redline my driving average has increased to 265 - 275. Drives struck outside the club's large sweet spot still travel around 240. As a 9 handicapper who is fortunate if he plays twice a week, the remarkable forgiveness of this driver is perhaps its strongest characteristic. It is also possible to work the club (contrary to the assertions of most other reviewers). However, it does takes some effort and practice to do so. I found fading the ball not particularly difficult. It took me some time to develop a reliable draw with the Redline. Nevertheless, this club definitely prefers to send the ball on a straight line.
Cons: This would not be my driver of choice if I played venues that frequently required tee shots to be drawn and/or faded. The Redline is not an easily workable club. I found it to have a low trajectory, which I like. If, however, a player wants to consistently hit high drives, he should look elsewhere.
Quality: The quality, fit and finish of the Redline is first rate.

Review Summary: The Adams Redline is an excellent choice for golfers looking for exceptional length and forgiveness in combination with a straight and low trajectory. Given the current end of season sale prices, this driver is also a screaming bargain.
